  • Credit Card Charges
I calculated my unlawful charges on two credit cards with MBNA as £1295.05 including interest and sent the first letter requesting full payment. I received an offer of £310 against one account and £110 against the second. I sent the second phase letter requesting payment of the full amount with the 14 days reply period.

In the mean time, I have received a cheque for £310 and had £110 credited to one my Credit Card account.

What is my best course of action now?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Chris

Write back to the bank, politely accepting them as "part payments without prejudice". Continue your claims for the balance.

The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

I wrote to sent my statements and highlighted charges back to MBNA on 8th June and gave them 14 days to respond. After a month they still haven't, so I wrote again to say I expect the full claim to be settled within the next week or I will register the case with MCOL.

    Sensible course of action?

I'm giving MBNA until tomorrow to respond to my letter accepting £250 as part payment for my total claim of £551. I did say that I would be happy to settle for £500 to avoid legal action but that if I didn't hear anything I would proceed. I have decided not to cash the £250 cheque for now and have just put it in a safe place.
When completing the MCOL form do I claim for the full amount of £551 or the remainder of £301. I assume it should be for £301 but wanted to be sure.
  • the amount oustanding is the amount you claim

Well I've sent it anyway. Didn't want to give them another 14 days. They've had long enough as it is.

The amount of the claim is £551 plus interest ;)
The £250 is declared later as part payment of the full amount :)
