    Hi

I refused first two amounts offered from MBNA ref: my Abbey CC - in the end got all charges back totalling £1200 - so keep going they are slow but you will get everything back

Barclaycard have suspended my CC - without any notice and even when I am well within my limit - this is because I reclaimed nearly £300 bank charges from them - they only offered me £100 but I stuck with it and got it - I only have a £500 limit so I think they are annoyed that they nearly cleared the card!

When I asked why the account was suspended? they said because I have been late in paying but I have paid on time every month and above the min payment for the last 6 months!

    so beware

MBNA have offered me 510 from 1111 and im not going to accept this but will as a part payment. I will send them a letter saying i accept as partial payment but should i give them another timescale before i start court proceedings so that they can offer a better offer or should i start court proceedings and then write to them to tell them ive started court.
it depends how close to the end of your existing timescale. if they offered you this within a few days of court proceedings being due, and they have also stated that it is 'full final settlement', then you can virtually treat this as a refusal as if u have already done a letter before action they have had plenty of time. However, if there is still, say a week or so left of the existing timescale u have given them, u could write, stating that u only accept as part settlement and give them a further week to agree or not. there are good templates on here to use and also on the Consumer Action Group website.

hi. this is what they are doing now. nobody has said that even £12 is fair. no official ruling has been made. you could write and say you only accept it as part settlement and that you want full settlement or you continue with your threat of legal action via the courts. stick to your guns. use the info on this site and there are also some very good templates to use on the Consumer Action Group website. Read up thoroughly first. It's worth doing. Think of the hourly rate you'll be getting! :) good luck.

I am in the same situ as you. You could write - as I have - and say you accept only as partial settlement. Nobody has ruled that even £12 is fair. The opinion here and elsewhere on this issue is largely that £12 is still too much. At the most it costs the bank/cc co. between £2 and £4.50 acc. to research. Ask them to prove that their costs were £12. There is much to look at here and other sites on this issue. Good luck.

MBNA sent a cheque today for £100 and offered £80 off Virgin card. Just under half of what they owe. I have rejected this and asked for full settlement or proof of their expense. if no response or deal then we go to court.

I requested my statements from MBNA on 17th April and still not heard anything. How long have people had to wait to receive list of charges/copies of statements?

I wrote on 20th March for 2 accounts with them. I had 1 lot of state:mad: ments sent 10 days ago and am still waiting for the other lot to arrive. However it took 2 letters headed COMPLAINT to get the first lot. They sent the cheque back but the service is appaulling and I am about to go to the Information Commissioner about the 2nd account.
  • Greetings people

MBNA are extremely snowed under - getting around 300-400 letters a day concerning fees. Stick with it and claim everything, they will pay, they wont go to court. Trust me. Dont ask me questions on how i know (cos then I'd have to lie), but at present, I can gurantee MBNA will refund 100% of a genuine claim - ie dont try to claim £2000 when they owe you £20:rotfl: But if they owe you £500 - you will eventually get £500. It is a little slow there, but is getting better
