The baggage workers get payed to move baggages from desk to plane as long as it is under A Weight it will be accepted shurley being 15kilos and 20kilo and 23kilo does not matter to them all baggage on airplanes should be the same and excess be charged but i feel i am repeating myself so i will stop. I will know that a fat man weighing twice as much as me without a case will pay less than my suitcase alone soon. I will not be going to Turkey again anytime soon . Thanks for all your advise

Between 20kg and 30kg is the limit for a "one man lift", for OSHA.

that has no clarity to me as i was 19 in a 15 limit.did think it was 20.The more i am finding out the more i now no that travel companyes are money making by moving the goals,

I can't see why you don't seem to understand that it is the airline that you're flying with that sets the maximum weight for hold luggage.

With some airlines you have to pay (a variable amount depending on which airline) to even put a case into the hold.
If you choose to pay that variable amount, you might get 15kg allowance or you might get 20kgs.

Your insistence that all airlines should have the same weight allowance is akin to expecting all airlines to charge the exact same fare for flights from and to the same place.e.g. if you fly with Easyjet from Gatwick to Dublin you pay exactly the same as you would with Ryanair.

It simply doesn't work like that - as I said before,

Ask your self why many airlines have different maximum dimensions on hand luggage.
Ask yourself why many airlines have different limits on hand luggage weight (ranging from 5kg, through 10kg to 'doesn't matter how heavy as long as you can lift it into the overhead locker).

You've been told before that it's not the country you're visiting that sets the rules on hold luggage limit, it's the airline you're flying with because

We go each may to turkey on a Thomas Cook flight as it's the only one with a Friday flight.

Always people with overweight luggage. Usually drunk. Always abusive.

When they unpack it it's always fake handbags and cigarettes.


What I like best is when they take stuff out of their case to get it to the right weight and put it it their hand luggage (usually whilst swearing at woman on the desk). Then very sweetly the woman on desk points out the weight limit on hand luggage and weighs that.

It's classic. Happens every single year.

You were over the weight allowance, it was right that you should be asked to pay for the additional 4 kgs.

Whether you thought you were within the 15kg limit because you weren't charged on the way out and you got rid of some stuff but bought some other stuff is immaterial.
If the scales showed your case weighed 19kgs then that's that (or you could have requested that they re-check the weight on another set of scales but my guess was that you really were 4kgs over).

The fact that you thought your allowance was 20kgs is also immaterial.
It's what it says on your tickets.

Lack of attention to details like that show your inexperience of air travel.

welcome to the real world.

Of course airlines are in the business of making money - but not necessarliy moving the goal posts, at least not in your case.

Many thanks for all your advise polly cat so it does not matter where your going to or where from only who with? Thomas Cook have 15kilo and first choice have 20kilo, but Turkey is shorthaul in Thomas Cook and midhaul in first choice ??In future i will check how much baggages i am allowed and also weigh my baggs . I am still not happy with Thomas Cook and it was a bit of a bad end to a nice holiday my first time at Turkey. but we did have nice seats that my friend payed for us and i nearly got the plane ladys number.Thanks again for all your advises sparky. polly are you a cat ? how old i am 22 . message me
