How can this be fair

I HAVE JUST RETURNED FROM TURKEY & i was charged almost a extra £50fifty pounds for excess baggage for being a few kilos over in my case. I shouted to the desk that i weighed less than 70 kilos and my mate i woz flying with weighed 105kilos and we paid the same amount for our flight why should i pay extra and be 30kilos lighter?in total. The people behind us were both over 100plus kilos too which i mentioned .I spelt it out to them they had been wrong to attempt to charge me ,but still had to pay. I called for the manager who sort of agreed but was rubbish(and fat). Do you think it woz unfair and bigger people could have to pay more or little guys like me be allowed a bigger case/? Thanx.....

Well lets hope you put your point across a tad better than the way you have just reported it.

During your booking you would be able to see your baggage allowance and if you went over that allowance then you have no one to blame but yourself.

Regarding your statement about you and your friends weights and same price ticket it really has nothing to do with it, do you need someone to carry you on to the plane and place you in a seat? Probably not so therefore you have to pay a premium to have an overweight bag placed on the aircraft for you.

From Metro's letter page some time back in 2009 :

"Why do we have to pay for extra luggage when overweight passengers pays the same price for tickets like us thin folks?"

Reply in the next day's Metro :

"Why do you have to pay for overweight luggage at the airport? Because us airport workers have to load your huge case onto the plane. The fat man walks there himself." by Tonedog

Between 20kg and 30kg is the limit for a "one man lift", for OSHA. Any heavier and you're paying for the second person to help carry it.
  • my case was 19kilos and lighter than my holiday lasy year my baggage was 90 kilos including myself my fat freinds baggage was 120kilos including himself i had to pay more than him thats not fare. Do staff at airports get paid more for heavy bag carrying? other planes take 15kilo or 17kilo or 19or25 kilo all different weights they make rules to chorge more money my bags no more heavyier on the way out as only did buy a few teeshirts (xs)and left any shampoo and things.
I do not need help to get on butt if plane did crash would they charge fat people more to carry them off ? Just saying i think it shuld be a better system than just weight.Do prams and wheelchairs go free?
  • Stop moaning, it's the same rule for everyone. If you don't want to pay excess baggage don't be over the limit, simple.

Or you could have taken a few things out of your case and worn them instead?
