How can this be fair

I wasn't going to reply to this thread as I thought that it was a wind-up, but here goes....
You seem to have tied yourself up in knots about an argument (weighing people as well as luggage) that you just aren't going to win (at least until (if ever) airlines adopt the total weight of luggage + passenger method of charging.
So you might as well put it out of your mind.
Do I think it woz (sic) unfair?
Probably - but I would say that as I don't weigh more than 120 lbs (54kgs), wouldn't I.
And to take your argument on to its logical conclusion, do I think it fair if you (weighing 70kgs) should pay the same as me weighing 54kgs?
Well, I'd say 'NO, that's not fair' of course.
And along comes a tiny 7 stone person to object to paying the same as me for her flight & luggage.
And on and on.......
Airlines (and their regulations differ) have their own rules on how much hold luggage you can take.
You either comply with that or you pay.
In your case, you had to pay as you didn't take notice of the rules.
I assume your limit was 15kgs and you had to pay the excess amount per kilo x 4.
If you were within the limit going out and was sure that the weight of any shopping you did on holiday was less than the toiletries that you used/threw away, why didn't you ask them to reweigh your case on a different set of scales?
I'd guess your case was overweight.
I don't know about charging fat people to carry them off if a plane crashed.
To be absolutely honest, if a plane crashed and I was still alive, I'd be happy to pay anybody any amount of money to carry me off.0 -
This has to be a wind up, who the hell writes like this?
Maybe you should write to thomas cook and suggest a payment scheme for flights based on brain cells, that way you would never have to pay for a flight ever again.
The limits are clear regarding baggage if you dont like it you have 3 choices:
Pay for the excess
Limit the amount in your baggage
Dont TravelLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
Haha I read this wrong at first.... I thought his baggage was 70kgs..... was wondering how anyone carried it at all!!!!
If your friend was under his allowance, couldn't you of transferred some items to that suitcase? I would say it was perfectly fair as you should know the limits before checking luggage in and make sure you are not over.0 -
I think this is a wind up, no-one is that bad at English, surely.
Anyways for sake of argument, Thompson and Thomas Cook give 15kg as standard upgradeable (at a cost) to 20kg, First Choice for some reason give 20kg as standard, the weight of the pasenger is irrelevant.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Real PMSL moment there, Phatbear. :rotfl:
I sometimes think there should be a button for 'Thanks for making me laugh'.
If there were, I'd have clicked it more than once.
I'd have loved the entertainment if I'd been in the same check-in queue as the OP.0 -

I think your absolutely right and as a matter of principle I think that you should refuse to fly anymore until you receive a written apology and a full refund.
That'll teach 'em
I think its absolutely scandalous that despite all those notices about maximum bag weight etc that they didn't let you off with a few kilos extra.0 -
But what would happen if you went on a long trip and put on, or lost weight between the outward and inbound legs of the journey. Would you have to pay an excess on your excesses or get a refund due to Delhi belly or just ditch your stuff from the bags or pack more straw donkeys to compensate.
Or if you broke your leg skiing would clothes to the exact weight of your plaster and crutches have to be jettisoned from your trusty tunki to compensate.
Answers on a postcard please.0 -
More importantly is a false leg deemed as luggage?Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0
