Interesting info here - http://nottalktalkmembers.blogspot.com/ re TTs continuing misinformation etc..
Also be aware those punters originally signed up for the "free forever" packages have gradually been shunted over to other packages that do not carry the same "benefits", another reason for the frequent package renaming.
Many queries on the "members forum" about their price plans vanishing.
I predict November 1st for the next renaming wave to commence with the Talk UK AnyTime bunch having "free" broadband.0 -
TalkTalk HAVE To change the tariffs available with free broadband every 3-6 months as the regulator tells us we have to do this. This means that tariffs eather need to be amended or changed entirely.

Seems it`s all down to the regulator.0 -
Same here Galant...on BT Low User, they say 12 month contract when coming off to the next tariff, and have to recompense them if I cancel early. Still getting over the shock.
Hi,
Can Ken68, or anyone else, please enlighten me as to a problem with TT & BT Light User Scheme? I'm on the BTLUS, and have recently signed up to switch to TT. As of yesterday, there's a note on 'Track my order' saying there's a small problem & to contact TT on 0870 ............. Edit: I've not had a further look into this, I believe what I need to do is change my LUS to the BT Unlimited Weekend Plan? , then switch to TT? Can anyone confirm / know of any problem with this. Actually, if I'd known I could get LR for £10.50 with BT, and free w/e calls, I'd probably have cancelled LUS anyway!
I tried, but after following loads of vague menu items, I got to 'Sorry, we're closed'. I was already thinking of cancelling my app, due to Virgin (my current BB provider) telling me that if I cancel TT after the contract is up I'll have to pay £100 to go back to BT, and pay BT £100+ for reconnection. Anyone know anything about this, or a Virgin spinning yarns?

Hi Junk...think that terms and conditions of low user say 'no computer (or mobile phone) use'.
Talk Talk option very attractive now thru Quidco...£100 cashback
for any tariff...
Yes..BT charge £100 maybe more to re-connect.
I went off BT Low User to Plusnet £10 a month less cashback £28 via quidco ...net £7.66 a month.
Plusnet is part of BT.0 -
Junk
BT put a "tag" on your line if your on the LUS,so this means you can`t get broadband or use any other phone companies calling tariffs because Bt has blocked you.
If you ask BT to take the "tag" off your line (so that you can move to TT) then you automatically come off the LUS.0 -
"I was already thinking of cancelling my app, due to Virgin (my current BB provider)"
Don't think the tag thing applies. Shouldn't be on LUS anyway if has ADSL.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0 -

The "tag" thing doesn`t apply to virgin because they are cable.
But it does to any other BB provider because you need a BT line.
Agree
if you have ASDL you`re not supposed to be on LUS.
Anyone managing to get on LUS now, automatically get their line "tagged".
People that have been on LUS for a long time, obviously got their BB before the "tagging" system came into operation.0 -
Was with talk talk, phone was fine but the free broadband was not was finally advised bt BT that we live too far from the exchange for the signal to travel hence the problems, also the customer reps were not helpful at all0

Ok, just didn't assume the OP's broadband was cable as Virgin do adsl as well.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0 -
Until December 2007 I was with BT for landline and with NTL/Virgin for 2mb broadband.
Decided to go with TalkTalk and started with then in January 2008, everthing was as they said it would be. Received the modem and they kept us up to date with progress.
Monthly costs are £17.50, may vary slightly depending on calls made. Has free weekend and evening calls and up to 8mb broadband included( we actually get about 6mb)
These costs are against what we were paying before...
approx of £54+ per quarter BT(of which the last was £48 charges!)
£18 per month NTL for up to 2mb broadband
so monthly costs of £36
so we are saving £18 a month.
Had more junk mail from BT this morning wanting us to return???
Are they completely stupid?
TalkTalk have been very good so far
