I'm paying £49 a month via Direct debit with BT Option 1 and i keep looking at Talktalk. Sometimes the amount goes down and sometimes it goes up. I keep filling in the details for Talktalk but then i stop because i keep thinking about what if i get problems because with BT i've had none since i first got broadband 5 years ago, but the thing is BT are very expensive. Do i or don't i0

Well I finally took the plunge a couple of weeks ago and should be up and running on 8/4/08.
Two relatives are with them and they are satisfied with the set-up.
I`ve gone for the talk2 interneational at £16-39 a month which includes £10-50p line rental, internet and free week nights and weekend calls.
I`ve got a feeling that they are supplied by AOL for the internet (maybe wrong)
It`s hard to see how this can be beaten but of course the proof will come, once connected and how they perform.
I have phoned customer service and from the accent I would guess their call centre may be in S.Africa!!
Just waiting for the "free" modem and connection early next month,so far,so good, with DD set-up,transfer from current ISP and letter from BT confirmiing switch-over.0 -
I rang Talk Talk a month ago, thinking I was signing up to TISCALI. (got the wrong phone number)
When I finally realised I was talking to Carphone Warehouse, I stopped everything. The rep hadn't finished reading out the verbal contract, yet he said it could not be cancelled. His supervisor said it could not be cancelled, but that I was to ring a 0870 number to cancel it myself.
Nonetheless, they instigated a direct debit, sent letters confirming I was a customer, then I had a letter from BT, saying sorry you're leaving.
It took a month of worry to sort it.
My fault for getting the wrong number but nonetheless, did mention several times Tiscali and that I was on dial up with them. Still they let me go ahead. A bad lot.0 -

Please see the HERE link in my signature below on how to cut that down vastly.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
As BT line rental is £10.50 per month, that must mean you're spending £38.50 on calls per month.

Hi, my calls come from 1899, i think the cost is built up from the boadband £17.99 a month i think and some numbers my kids must phone without doing the 1899 first
Thank you for the link in your sig, but i still have to pay for broadband, how do i get that cheaper?0 -

We were very happy with TT for 18 months, line and broadband, mainly for the "free" international calls.
Then came the problems with the broadband dropping umpteen times a minute.
I rang TT customer services and spoke with someone in virtually every continent, all very helpful and talking the talk, but nothing ever resolved.
Decided to go back to BT for line rental and SKY telephone and broadband since already with them for TV.
No problems since! I´d wouldn´t go back to talk talk if they gave me the service for free, far too much hassle.Amanda

I was with TT for my broadband for a good few years, I changed over to another supplier because they was unbundled at my exchange, I have never had any trouble with TT broadband they where much better than my other ISP like tiscali and Bt, Once my 12 month contract is up i will be going back to TT broadband has they have now unbundled my exchange. And if you got any problems with TT go to the Talktalk message board at mytalktalk(google it) or at http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/, There is a lot of help there from Talktalk staff and members.0
