I've been with talk talk for a few years now - I went with them initially because of the free international calls. Then I completely switched my phone and got the 'free' broadband with them. I had a few problems with my phone but those problems have been sorted. Now I am having problems with my broadband - I will lose the connection 10 times within a 5 min timeframe. I left BT because they are awfully overpriced and their customer services sucks, but now I considering looking for a new BB suppler they all require BT phoneline - I don't want to go back to that overpriced company....0

I had talktalk phone and tried for free internet access but cant get it where I live yet. I have been using tiscali broadband. Soooo many problems with customer service at Talk Talk and realised recently that tiscali phone and broadband package was cheaper for me, so switched. I have been sent a £80 cancellation bill from TalkTalk. Phoned them today, and for the first time, actually got through to someone helpful (after 3rd attempt) and... they have credited the £80 and agreed I owe them nothing! Woohoo! That is the only bit of decent customer service I have had from TalkTalk! Happy with the result though as I dont have £80 floating around to pay them!If I had a pound for every...... oh sod it, if I just had a pound I'd be richer!0

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/02/29/tiscali_sell_off_confirm/Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
You may end up back with Talk Talk anyway!

PLEASE I URGE YOU ALL FOR YOUR OWN SANITY TO AVOID TALKTALK AT ALL COSTS!!!!
I signed up last may and it has been hell! after they eventually activated my broadband 3MONTHS LATER than they had advised, they sent me a wireless modem (out of the blue) which i had not ordered, and charged £49.99 to my phone bill. After being passed around the departments I was reassured by a customer service rep that the direct debit would not be taken that month and my bill would be credited when they received the modem. However, a couple of weeks later, they took around £75 from my account and i went overdrawn-incurring a £30 bank charge and a £5 charge from them for a failed direct debit!!! I called customer service, not much help- one man even put the phone down when i asked for his name! (Please note-i had not been abusive!) Eventually I was given the same reassuring line as the month before. This pattern was repeated for 3 months, incurring £105 charges for me. Eventually in december i had a nice letter from a nice lady in customer service and the issue was finally ressolved. To talktalk's credit, they did actually refund me £90 for bank charges they had caused.
However, this satisfaction was short lived. Due to the problems with payment i decided to cancel my direct debit and pay cash until i felt i could trust talktalk. Since December they seem to have decided not to send me a monthly phone bill, but to temporarily disconnect my line each month until i realise, pay, and wait up to 7 days for them to reconnect. Customer service reps have basically said i'm lying-that bills have been sent, but i haven't received them. So there's honestly not one good word i could say about talktalk. Oh yeah, they do free broadband-if you can get it!
I'm going back to BT and i'll find another ISP.
It's worth the extra £5 for my sanity!:mad:0 -
Do you work for BT?0

Hi, I've been with Talktalk for a good few years signing up in the early days it took me a year and half to get my free broadband ( always been on the top package) with teens in the house I could not afford not to. However I have never really had a problem with bad connections etc my brodband max speed is always 2.4Mb I cant get any more due to distance from the exchange, so even if I moved to bt it would be the same. I have used both bt and Tiscali ( nightmare) before plus a few other broadband suppliers madasafish etc and to be honest most were fine until it came to moving house etc. I finally bought my own place and chose a supplier who could meet all my needs in one package; Talktalk did this and I am more than happy. I receive a bill every month via email which is easy to understand. For international calls I use a 0844 number at approx 2p a minute. My broadband usage is mixed ( what do you expect with teenagers) but its always been ok. I even run a cctv server from home so I can ensure my house is ok when I am away. All in all content is what I would say. But thats my experience.0
