I've found TalkTalk to be good pretty good, was quickly connected and works well for me. Free wireless router is useful.
Had a few contract problems with BT which I told TalkTalk about during signup, saying I did not want to change if I incurred a bill. They promised if that seemed likely they would cancel the switch but they didn't.
Managed to get TalkTalk to pay most of the BT charge though!0 -
I tried to get Talktalk phone and broadband and they are a complete waste of time. I cancelled before I even got connected due to the messing about. My advice is give them a wide birth. I would rather pay more and have a reliable service0

My FIL was cold called by "Talk Talk" and agreed to switch his phone and Internet over to them, He has had nothing but problems, He has had no Broadband and despite numerous phone calls and being sent a new Modem, he still is no nearer to getting it sorted out, He does all his shopping and Bill paying online so you can imagine how bad it is for Him, He is now switching back to BT!0

My parents are both pensioners and have been with Talk Talk for 18 months. Their line developed a fault which took 16 days and numerous calls to 0870 numbers from their PAYG mobile to rectify. Unfortunately the numbers did not match any on saynoto0870.com or where they did they went on hold and unanswered. They were repeatedly told the line was working when it wasn't and kept getting told that if an engineer came out and the problem was found to be with their equipment rather than the line then they were liable for the cost. Needless to say my parents have found the experience very stressful. They have been offered a meagre £15 in compensation which does not cover the loss of the telephone/broadband service and the calls made to Talk Talk.0

my elderly parents have used Talk Talk for call for a couple off years .
My father died two weeks ago .yesterday I phoned Talk Talk to get the name changed on the account ,they told me my father had to sign to agree to the name change .I sent them an email complaining about there customer service .They replied saying they needed a copy off the death cert .
There line rental is still paid to BT and BT where able to change the account name over the phone .0 -

Hi I've had great service from Talktalk for the past year inc. free broadband. Just had an offer of free wireless router with another 18 months contract-no probs-router working, cheap calls , online billing, never any probs when I've had to call them.
Now I've reccommended my parents to talktalk and they can't get connected as they're on the "wrong BT call Plan"
Anyone any idea as to what on earth this means

Anyone any idea as to what on earth this meansTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Same here Galant...on BT Low User, they say 12 month contract when coming off to the next tariff, and have to recompense them if I cancel early. Still getting over the shock.0
