Am I BT's only customer?
I abmit that they're not cheap but the service works. First time, all the ilme.
A few weeks ago I "adjusted" my computer and lost the internet. A phone call to BT and an extremely knowlegable and helpful lady talked me through the solution, including connecting to my computer to ensure that I got it right. (She's obviously heard about me.)
It is possible that the lady was in India, who cares I phoned she helped.

Well, after yet another week with no connection it looks like the problem has been solved.
Thanks to a very polite gentleman (Barry) from Talktalk's 2nd Line Technical Support.
After months of being told that the fault was due to the modem; my computer; and goodness knows what else, Barry took less than half an hour to identify that there was a short in the signal somewhere. It turns out that the signal from the exchange box was not going to my line!
Why it took from May to October for someone to find that is a mystery to me!
I am currently compiling my complaint letter
I will definitely be praising Barry in my letter. Employees like him deserve a big thumbs up. :AEleventh Heaven No. 321

Its always good to get praise and as long as your letter gets to the right people it should be fed back to Barry0 -
I originally changed to the free broadband package in April 2006 when it got to August 2006 with no broadband and no "starter pack" (which surprisingly enough not one person I know has ever received) I thought bugga this and kept my original ISP and cancelled the broadband from talktalk.
Then after some money problems this year had to cancel my ISP and figured I might as well claim what I should be getting for free so rang talktalk up said I want my free broadband that im entitled to and they said no problem and it will be ative in 10 days, it actually took them 19 days to activate it and when I came to cancel my account some months later due to having to move back to my mums, talktalk said you cant your in a 18 month contract, which had actually ended 3 months before, then they told me when you started your broadband you started into a new contract, and why was I not told is simple.......talktalk are absolute rubbish.
Although I do have to say that I got out of the contract without charge mainly because I couldnt take my account with me as my mum already has an account with them, but it did take talktalk 29 days to cancel my account which caused a lot of problems with my landlord who had moved back into the property.0 -
  I thought I'd update you all with a good result from my freinds crap TalkTalk experience. After BT connected the line and a complaint file was completed and sent by recorded post to TalkTalk credit control, Charles Dungheap and the Debt collection agency that were now involved. TalkTalk came back with a refund of the £60 final bill, a refund of the connection fee to BT £125, a full refund of all postage fees £25 and a good will sum £50; so a total refund of £260, which has now arrived and been credited to her bank account. A good result, but a lot of hassle and to cap it all, BT were late delivering broadband, can't get the bills right either and take even longer to get hold of. I think there licences should be reviewed annually and removed if customer service is not up the task.physiotherapist wrote: »A good freind of mine signed up for TalkTalk 3 International at the end of Dec 2006, after being given a 1st Feb' 2007 connection date. After many phone calls, recorded letters etc and many more connection dates and verbal and written offers of appology and compensation, nothing happened by 1st August 2007. Another letter was sent to TalkTalk, compaining of poor service and requesting a cancellation of the Talk 3 contract with out penalty. BT were instructed and would have taken over line rental on 21st August 2007 if TalkTalk had not disconnected the line on 20th August 2007, without warning!
This has left my freind with no landline service and BT are now demanding a connection fee of £135 and cannot connect till 31st August 2007.
Talktalk will not budge on this and refuse to reconnect or pay promised compensation.
Can you offer any advise or help with this issue please.
They promise service and just deliver lies and bully boy behaviour!0 -
I'm looking at getting a cheap broadband connection. Has anyone signed up recently to TalkTalk and experienced bad problems or are they starting to get their act together?0

As I previously posted I signed up back in May and got activation date of 6th June. I was up and running a couple of days later. The only problems I experienced was the CD they supply wouldn't complete but their Tech support got around this and then my on-line account wasn't activiated although I reported this at least 5 times. But as of 19th October this was rectified and I wasn't charged for the full 5 months, just from when I reported the problem so only charged 3 months. During this period I still had full use of phone and broadband.
The broadband and phone I have no problems with and to be honest the account thing was only an admin issue that was eventually rectified. I don't know whether I would reccomend them as I still hear of people having technical problems.0 -

Also cannot access bank accounts or Ebay. All stuff I usually use daily. Not much use to me then and incredibly slow compared to BT.0

Well, months later and I have decided to disconnect and go back to BT with Sky. After months of being told I didnt have a suitable phone line (had been paying talktalk line rental for months and its ex BT) was eventually 'allowed' to have broadband and upgraded to talk3. A few weeks ago my broadband was supposed to go live, guess what? No modem. Still not got a modem. Was told that line rental was included in talk3 - received my bill today and it is NOT. So bye bye talktalk, ive had enough, im not paying any disconnection costs as im well past my original contract and havent signed a new one, and as far as im concerned, I havent received the service ive been promised countless times.0
