Any positive experiences switching to EDF energy??

Changed to EDF last November from Scottish Power. I am dual fuel direct debit monthly. Payments reduced by £20 a month and today am in credit by £300 plus. They have reviewed my account and are reducing monthly payment I have today changed to Fixed saver version 2. The online chat advisor was extremely helpful and advised that I would not incur an early exit penalty as i was not leaving EDF. He also told me that as I am Online saver 7 I would not suffer the rises which were coming, but offered to calculate the new fixed tariff costs against my present useage and it came up with a saving of £40 approx.
After checking all the figures again myself, standing charge being reduced and fuel going up etc. I found they were spot on. So I have opted to change to the Fixed saver version 2 as it is cheaper for me than Online saver 7 which was saving me money already.
There was some problems in the beginning with the online management of my account as I think they were not ready for the flood of new customers last year. and I have encountered duff advice when I telephoned. The waiting time for a phone call to be answered is dreadful. You are better going online and chatting with an advisor that way. I have always had great service and they seem really interested in getting you the information you need.Hope this is helpful.0 -

A question to those who have gone through this switching lark, when does the Contract tracker disappear and what does the opening page look like?
Cooking Mama, what is your situation at the moment?

As others suggest, EDF is having problems with its 'My Account' software. After 3 months of waiting for my 'My Account' webpage to show my switch to FixedSaver v 2, I got fed up and phoned EDF for the 3rd time since 1 Jul. On previous occasions, I was told that I had been transferred across to the new product and this would show on 'My Account'. It has now become clear that the account page that customer services is looking at is not the same as the one seen by the customer. 'We are having some IT issues' said the man from EDF. 'Could you send us a screenshot or let us have your password'? They got neither. After consulting with Consumer Direct, I have now lodged a formal complaint and asked for a response in writing with details of the product and tariff that I am now on. EDF are clearly not happy that I have gone down this route. Up until the introduction of the 'My Account' software, I have been a very contented customer. Customer Services have always been courteous and helpful.0

Update....(14mins on hold),then basicaly customer advisor has no idea why my meter readings are not showing online on my account,or why it states
No contracts currently exist for this account,
but he did manage to access the readings from elsewhere and confirmed they are the readings i submitted, and that these readings have been forwarded onto British gas, told me transfer is all in order and nothing to worry about, altho he did suggest if i didnt hear anything in another week then i should contact them again.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

It's usually worth the wait to get a human, as they do have access to information you don't and in my experience, are pretty helpful.
More recent reports have suggested that the time on hold was reducing, but it seems not so according to your time. Just keep checking your account for updates. Be wary of giving more readings if they've confirmed they've got some, as doing so can trigger a DD recalculation, regardless of how long you've been a customer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I am with EDF and have had no problems at all.
Everyone listen up ! It's all alright..... nsp33.....is in the clear. Stop worrying and get on with your lives.
Stop imagining things. The system is under control, the Direct Debits will be found, meter readings are in there (wherever) and the phone musac is lovely.
This thread is now closed because, I repeat, it's all ok. Hunky dory, splendid and spiffing. Honest.0 -
I can't find the option to "chat online with an agent" - I have tried phoning but given up after about 15 mins. I want to check that they have received my first meter reading in order that my contract with them can be finalized.
Does anyone know where this feature is? Or, is it just the case that it is only available when they are trying to get you?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

I think it might just popup when you're looking at options to sign up. Can't remember for sure, but that's the only time I've used it. Can't see an obvious way to get it now. Waste of time emailing them if you want an answer in less than 10 days.
Best way is to wait and wait on hold - preferably with a hands free phone.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. It looks as if the computer is treating you differently to me, despite us running neck and neck up to now.
Both my Contract Trackers have now progressed to a further stage of "service live" (or something like that) and the service start date is still roughly that of when I submitted the readings.
Also I have received my final electric bill from Scottish Power, they used the meter reading I gave EDF and the end date is the date EDF say I started with them (give or take a day).
So at the moment not too bad.0
