Wow! that was quick, I complained to EDF on the 4th Oct and a letter back from SP on the 7th with amended readings. How do I get my refund back from SP? will they action automatically?

Interesting I have been waiting for going on a year for EDF to give me an opening reading for my gas (after contacting then numerous times), they have even sent me a manual bill on figures supplied by me which shows I am in credit. I just checked my account again and they now appear to have inserted a reading from last Sept that is 6 times higher than my current reading, looks like the reading from the old meter that SP changed just before I switched. Does this mean free gas for the next 5 years:)

Well my Npower Sign Online 22 is coming to an end soon. Looked online and the cheapest to swap to is EDF Blue. It's actually about £60 more a year than what I pay now but is the cheapest to switch to. Done it through moneysupermarket for the £30 cashback.

Fingers crossed it all goes well!

No, its the start of more problems. The next time its read, if it hasn't advanced passed this reading, it will appear as a negative thus triggering an investigation.

Switch readings have to go through their agents as its linked to what they pay to the distributors.

If however, your meter advances passed this ending reading, yes, you may get away with it...but they may seriously under quote your DD's which will cause a later large catch up as the bills "normalise".

I live in a rented house. After paying alot of money to British Gas over the years, I decided to see who was the cheapest. Turned out to be EDF. The switch over was a !!!! up. They lost the meter readings given. About 3 months later I moved house (but only next door) and went online and filled out the relevant details required. It actually says on their site "we will take the stress out of your move" Ha!!
They opened another account for the new address but continued to bill me for the old. After umpteen phone calls, letters emails and contacts through the website (they never reply to website messages) I eventually wrote a formal complaint. I received a letter apologising, with the charges amended / removed and a credit of £25.00 on my new account.
Relief at last, well I can just get forget it all now hey! I then get a bill for 5 months energy at my new property, annoying but I put the money by to cover it (i do not trust these plonkers with DD) and they advise that my new quatrely has been worked out using this bill (a 5 month bill, yes you can guess what they have done). Luckily I will continue to give monthly readings and can work out what I need to pay myself.
All very frustrating and I am now thinking I might dump them once I get past the 12 month period, unless there is some drastic improvement.
Wait for it - they want to another go at forcing me to leave, yesterday I receive another bill for the old property. Which shows the credited charges explained earlier AND they have astoundingly reinvoiced me for the same charges. Well I can't take this anymore, I phoned and after half an hour of holding, I spoke to a friendly woman, who has promised to sort the issue (I will not hold my breath)..

Can you believe that yesterday I received a new bill for the same error detailed above? Nearly 2 years after EDF admitted their mistake. I telephoned their office yesterday and was told that someone would look into my query and call me before 4 today. Surprise, surprise, no phone call. I telephoned today and spoke to a very non interested chap who said that all he was prepared to do was email the representative that I spoke to yesterday. I have informed them that I will not be going through this process again, and I have invited them to take legal action against me. Hopefully the courts can finally resolve the issue. EDF are clueless and I cannot see the point in communicating with such a incompetent company.
  • In what had to be thir quickest reply ever. EDF wrote to me today, apologising and paying £50.00 compensation
Hopefully I will never have to deal with them again.

I have just had an actual meter reading, the last one being at my 12 month anniversary of me signing up (by which an annual bill was produced) , will they now produce a bill based on the new reading? they haven't done this so far although the readings are appearing on my account. BTW the transfer process still doesn't appear to have been completed for my gas 18 months after me transferring over, it still says we are nearly there :)
