Any positive experiences switching to EDF energy??

Morning guys, the forum is full of reported problems with EDF,has anyone recently had a positive experience and smooth transition from their old energy supplier to EDF energy?
On one hand from a money saving point of view im sure ive made the right decision to "switch",(saving around £150 PA.)
But on the other hand im concerned about reports of poor communication,Raising direct debits amounts without consulting the customers, slow slow transfer, etc etc...and for future reference problems with final bills when switching again.
I initiated my transfer 6 days ago, firstly i couldnt access my online account because my name had been spelt wrong, this was fairly quickly rectified when i phoned them(havent had too much problems getting through on the phone, altho the first person i spoke to last Thursday told me I had to speak to "registration" and they wouldnt be available until Wed(Tomorrow!!)dunno what that was all about as i got an answer that day...however since then Nothing,my online account still states everything is pending,i still havent received anything through the post, theres no mention of my direct debit amounts, nothing anywhere about what account ive applied for(fixed 2014)Ive now only got 6 days of my "cooling off" period left, postman has been today and still no "pack" to study...im worried if things dont go to plan,i may leave it too late to inform them of my plan to cancel...take the hit with BG,(been with them for years),and accept BG's offer of free cavity wall and loft insulation...this would equal the amount saved from switching anyway.
Anyhow,I digress....Any positive EDF switches???

Err, they are cheap? There's really nothing else positive I can say. Frankly, they are a shambles.0

I was going to switch to EDF so did a search on the forum to try and find some positive comments but to be honest there weren't enough of them to convince me to switch.
I know times are hard and we all have to watch our pennies but I think cheap isn't always best. No point in having cheap fuel when they put up your DD and you cant get through to discuss it with them.
I tried to contact them to discuss their deails - couldn't get through so that made my decision for me.
I holding tight for now. I'm with SE and their cust srvs is fab :T0 -
I switched to EDF, cheaper tariff, working internet access to my account, all good. Only downside was when they changed the way to access the website and I didn't have access for a few weeks but that was sorted. Am happy with them.
Such a massive difference to the nightmare that was Scottish Power.0 -
We've only just switched. Was super quick, everything seems fine so far. Their website is a bit annoying but only gotta go on once a month to submit meter readings.0

Ive been with EDF for many years now. Cant fault them, excellent customer service, never waited for more than a few minutes on the phone.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
No none. Have surpassed NPower as the worst Customer Service experience anywhere in any sector.0

I instigated a switch to EDF fixed til 2014 on 2 Aug, about 6 days ago and I have not received anything through the post.
How are you able to log on as it looks as if you need an account number which I have not got yet, have you?
I have however received an email asking me to confirm my email address, even though that was the one they sent the email to. This does give me some confidence that the switch is actually progressing.
The direct debit amounts for me were actually worked out and shown on one of the screens whilst switching, although I presume this will be confirmed when the welcome pack is received.
Like you I have been dismayed at the poor comments about EDF on here, I just hope I am the exception to the rule (and you).0 -

1)I applied over the phone,EDF guy was in the process of saying "Bye,thats all,"when i asked if i could have a reference number or something...thats when he said,"heres your account number"..dont think he was gonna mention it until i asked for a reference number...on the EDF website there is an area for account numbers beginning 67...I think thats for new customers. Its because he got my name wrong, that im worried he also got my other details wrong such as Direct debit amounts, what tarriff ive applied for etc, thats why i want to see everything in writing before the cooling off period.
2)Yeh,I got the same Email...thats how i know they had spelt my name wrong, couple of letters in the wrong place made my surname look completely different, then i couldnt register using the proper spelling....got that sorted out tho with a phone call

If you do have they patience to get through to them by phone - via an 0800 number, which is better than 0845 which many use, even if you do have to wait and their on-hold "music" is diabolical;) - I've found them to be pleasant and helpful. Hopefully I won't need to call them very often as the online service should let me do it all. Took a few weeks for that to get sorted, but it appears to be OK now. They never answered the email I sent, but did acknowledge it was on the system when I phoned. In many respects they are cheap and you get what you pay for.
On a positive note, my July usage cost me £50.75 on their Fixed Saver v2 tariff, where it would have cost me £50.35 had I gone with E.On's best offer when I switched, of their Track and Save 9 tariff, which is variable, no longer available and I used the pre-increase prices they've just announced. So I'm already close to paying the same and my rates are fixed until Sep 2012. Unless they totally screw up, I'll stay with them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Like many others I am looking to change.
I am with Ebico / Equipower & next month prices go up by 19% on gas & lesser on electric so i am among those looking to change, I tried a few comparisons & EDF come out cheapest on a fixed rate until 2014 but the name EDF seems to bring lots of negative comments & I dont like the standing charges compared to Ebico who dont have any plus what if....prices come down next year ...go to EDF & you have to pay a penalty to leave anyway I think this is what I will do, I followed the advice on this site & went through Money Supermarket so I get £30 cash back although I still have 10 days to change my mind but so far think it will be EDFTheres only two rules to remember1) Im always right2) See rule 10
