You got a reply didn't you? :) More than I've got to the emails I sent them. Maybe I should change my name to Craig Foster.
Did the reply answer your question, or the real Mr Foster's??

Could be a system error, albeit a system programmed and managed by untrained and demotivated staff.

I sent 3 emails during the period of the transfer. The first was replied to well outside the 10 days, by which time the issue raised had disappeared. Had no replies yet to the other two. After about 8 weeks.

Sent an email about today's problem, then phoned. Key issue (reinstatement of *my* monthly payment) resolved after a 16 minute wait. Since I have asked for the same by email, probably I will get reinstatement of the wrong payment.:(

Ive just checked my Scottish gas online account,
My latest Gas account balance is £152 credit ....But balance at my last statement in June was only £12 in credit...I realy dont think ive used £164 worth of gas since June, therefore im assuming after my next "bill"(19th Aug),I will still be in credit...however,
Electricity account balance now is £81 in credit.....But balance at last statement in June was £26 in Debit..I have no idea how much "electrickery"(As catweezle used to call it),ive used,But if its more than £55,im assuming i will still be in Debit, and if so can Scottish gas block my switch to EDF?....after what ive read today, that could well be my get out of jail free card....I feel like going to bed with all the lights, tellys, computer etc etc left on overnight, just to make sure im in debit to Scottish gas.:rotfl:
Feel a bit silly realy,I initialy thought Scottish gas owed me over £200:o

Unless you are more than £200 in arrears, the switch will not be blocked. Therer's a difference between being in debit and being in arrears. Under a 'perfect' DD plan, you will be in credit for 6m and in debit for 6m.

My experience with EDF is shocking, I cant beleive a company in 2011 can operate like this!

I get a phone call in July from EDF saying I should switch to them from Southern Electric as they can give me cheaper gas and electricity, I inform him of my monthly direct debits and he states that im paying too much with Southern Electric (£30 gas £35 electricity) So I say yes to switching, he says I should recieve some paperwork in the post........................ weeks go by and I recieve a letter from EDF last Friday (dated the 4th of Aug) stating I will be paying £40 gas and £40 electricity! ARE YOU KIDDING EDF!! So I called them on Tuesday (took me 40 mins to get thru) and a gentleman tells me ive gone past the cooling off period! How on earth can I decide whether ive made the right decision without any contact or paperwork until AFTER the cooling off period (which I wasnt told about by the way) and then to discover ive been duped into switching as they are not cheaper! So I told the man on the phone this and he said he would speak with his manager and put in a sales complaint, try and get me back with Southern Electric and would call me back at 2pm the next day, well he did not bother to call back (surprise surprise!) so I had to call back again this morning only to be told by the lady (who was actually not normally on the phones but back office covering due to the high call levels) that there was NO TRACE of me calling on Tuesday and nothing had been done! I mean seriously what sort of company is this?! I was then told I would need to contact Southern myself to transfer back and I would be hit with exit fees and would need to email my complaint, IM NOT HAPPY AT ALL WITH THIS PALAVA!

Is there anything else I can do to get this sorted, when I complain will they then say I dont have to pay exit fees because I was duped into switching?

You weren't 'duped into switching', you failed to understand that your DD amounts have nothing to do with the actual unit cost of your power, that's what determines your bills. It may well be that your SSE DD's were not enough to cover the cost of your actual consumption. Did you actually ask EDF to recalculate based on your advised annual usage, and adjust the DD's if appropriate?
Promising lower DD's is the oldest sales trick in the book.
If you post your annual kWh usage figures, your tariff and region, someone can check what your DD level should be-or you can check it yourself on any comp site.
As ever, the moral is never to buy from cold callers-do your own research and keep the commission for yourself.
BTW, if you are on an EDF variable tariff, you can expect a further imminent increase, as EDF are the sole supplier who have not yet announced their price increase this summer-which is why they may well have appeared cheaper than SSE a month ago.

The cooling off period doesn't commence until receipt of a hard copy of the contract. Of course they may say "lost in the post". You need to deal with that somehow.

For your own benefit (and the benefit of others) never compare using monthly payments. Only annual consumption results in an accurate comparison.
