Any positive experiences switching to EDF energy??

I predict problems ahead for every customer because there must be a systemic problem with their billing system. I could have avoided it by not listening to victor2, but would it be sound advice not to submit customer readings?
Go on, give us a laugh - let's see what their estimated readings are for new customers. :rotfl:
They "reviewed" my DD (even though they weren't actualy collecting it) after being a customer for about a month. Adjusted it up slightly, but it still seemed reasonable. They even said on the bill Because you pay by Direct Debit you do not need to do anything. So I didn't. Trouble was, neither did they!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. No problems in the joining process so far, I would hope not to contact them much in the future.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. 2 days of zero consumption 5 weeks ago resulted in an increase from £28 to £56, so doubled:rotfl:
edit: the £1 decrease I posted earlier was the electricity payment only. I thought it was the dual-fuel payment.0 -
I went on supply on 9/8 with EDF.
The DD/bank account details are shown on My Account, the amount is also shown and correct. However, no DD has yet been registered with my bank, so I'm fully expecting to get a letter from EDF in a couple of weeks saying that they attempted to take the first DD but it failed...anyone else has this?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
However, no DD has yet been registered with my bank,
I believe, though I stand to be corrected by the bank experts, that sometimes the setup is incorporated into the first collection.
No idea whether that is true or not though it is "true" that is what bank staff once informed me when I queried a similar issue.0 -

They never told me they weren't taking the DD. I knew because it wasn't showing in my account with them and hadn't left my bank. My bank even verified that there was no DD set up by EDF.
When I got in touch with EDF about it, they said there had been a problem a few months previously with Barclays (who I bank with) cancelling a whole load of EDF DDs without notifying anyone. Did wonder what Barclays knew that we didn't, but set it up once again, so I'll see if September's payment goes through.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. It's satisfying to know that the new system is working so well.:rotfl:
Already having entered opening readings, I got the message today to enter opening readings.
I have entered up to date readings and by the looks of it can expect some random actions from the system regarding DD's, bills and further messages.
Nice to know it's all in safe hands......:o:o0 -
Ha, a month behind already. You're in big trouble if they do a review:D
Ah, but they did a review after they'd already missed two payments and only increased the DD by a few pounds. The outstanding balance at that time was more than the DD amount. I cleared the bill with a payment, but still paid less than the DDs would have been. Could hit me on the next review I suppose.
They are trying, bless 'em!:)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I should add, I got a message via My Account asking me to enter my opening gas readings. Which the system wouldn't let me do via My Account. Upon phoning up instead (I did get through very quickly, much to my amazement) I was told that I wasn't going on gas supply for another week (electricity only) and that the message must be a system error....No free lunch, and no free laptop0
