Well I have to say all has gone well for me.
As I have said before I switched to a dual fuel account but they gave me seperate account numbers. My first bills are now online following a meter readers visit on 25 Oct (I did not see him but the readings are accurate).
Both bills are correct with the electric being £14 in credit and the gas £60 in credit, with the dual fuel discount being applied to the gas account. They have reviewed my gas DD (which possibly goes against their advertised procedure) and increased it from £49 to £59, but using last years usage for the quarter to 25 Jan that would still give me a debit of about £60 next Jan and perhaps aiming for a zero balance next spring. So I am going to accept the increase.
I wonder if my good fortune compared to others posting on this thread is because I have seperate accounts rather than the single bill approach that others have.0 -
Phoned up to complain that they still haven't sorted out my disputed meter read with BG, after I moved in Feb. Then when I moved house in July, my old account got closed and a new one opened. They have now sent me a bill for around £500 for the old account (despite this being months later!), saying they will take the money by direct debit in a few days! When I called to complain, they said they would cancel the charges. I then received another letter saying they've cancelled my direct debit (which I didn't ask them to do) and now I have to pay the ~£500 immediately. Called them today and they said the DD was cancelled as part of "normal procedure" when I moved addresses in July. When I asked why it had taken 3 months to cancel the DD they had no explanation! Seems like a bit of a coincidence that I phoned them a few days ago and they have cancelled my DD on the next day...0

Update,...waiting on a return call from British gas ,both electric and gas online accounts show as closed, final bill for electric settled weeks ago,but still nothing re; gas, latest account details show i was £96 in credit, and i realy didnt use much between then and switchover..im hoping BG will credit my bank account,be handy for christmas...im £272 in credit with EDF so everything seems to be going fine there, altho online my account,is still not showing account as live.
Update on the update.BG have confirmed both gas and electric accounts are closed, electric has a balance of zero, and gas is £96 in credit..too late now to have the credit paid into bank as DD.stopped, but a cheque is being forwarded on,seems if i hadnt phoned to ask,my credit wouldve just been left sitting in the closed account!.
Im assuming from this, and the fact that my DD.is coming off every month to EDF,that i am now actualy live..i wont bother with the My Accountpage.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

My Gas account is still not live and I switched in August, there was a problem with the final reading but that was sorted (and refund received from SP) over two months ago.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. I switched from EON to EDF in June and my gas contract is still not live. They are taking DD for elec but not gas. I've phoned them several times regarding this and they have told me it is 'stuck in the system' but should be resolved soon. I asked them what opening reads they have used and they couldn't tell me as they said a bill cannot be produced until both contracts are live. I received a final bill from EON in July but that used estimated readings. I have also emailed EDF but to no avail. I'm concerned that I'm going to be hit with a huge bill when/if they ever sort it out. Anyone have any advice on how I should proceed?
UPDATE: I didn't get anywhere with complaining to EDF so I made an official complaint to the Energy Ombudsman. A couple of weeks later I received a call from the EO telling me that had told EDF they had 4 weeks to activate my gas account and commence taking a DD, to arrange a payment plan with me for the gas owed and that they would make a goodwill payment of £75 in recognition of their failings. I received a call from EDF a couple of days later to sort out how much I was willing to pay a month, and an emailed bill showing the goodwill payment. My first gas DD is to commence in Dec. So, anyone with similar problems to me, it is definitely worth a complaint to the Energy Ombusdman.0 -

hi stevie.
its just short of my 12 months period & i still have not gone live on my gas , i have had 2 leccy bills in the year, i am so !!!!ed off with the all set up that i am pulling out after xmas & going back to atlantic gas who i had no trouble with billing in all the past years .
the good thing i am showing £320 in credit on my leccy bill ,which will part cover my gas bill , after xmas i am going to stop my d/d & switch suppliers. my mate 200 yds down the road has the same problem only he has not gone live on his GAS so he as not recieved the £100 joining bonus where as i have.
i have been reading this forum for 2 hours & i can tell you that i have been on this case for 11 months , but not for much longer as i want my life back again!!!!!, most of the people on here will still be writing next xmas with no success.0 -
Just noticed that a new field "last meter reading type" has appeared in MyAccount Submit meter reading:T
Pity the dial meters are still "impossibly oval":rotfl:0 -

....on my account it now indicates that the last readings in early December were "estimated" - seems crazy when the meter reader called 2 weeks previously which resulted in a bill dated 25th November!!
Wonder why they "created" these estimates as they didn't generate a new bill??:)0 -
I would be more surprised about the website working at the weekend :eek:0
