No customers were asked requirements in the design process.

    Why should they? :o

You can't even see your previous readings online (earlier than the last one entered)

I don't recall being able to do that with previous suppliers, but hey, this is supposed to a new system.

The bill should use a customer read entered during the billing window, or in the absence of that an estimated reading, but if a customer reading is then provided the bill should be replaced. That is what I have experienced from at least 3 previous suppliers over several years.

I have no confidence in Edf billing and it is disappointing to hear that entering a read doesn't update the balance. I could always provoke an issue by entering a read. In a way I'm tempted, but no, better things to do.

The only "small" success I can report is that an online bill payment token amount sent to the bank details mentioned was credited quite quickly.

The late, MUCH lamented EON system allowed you to see all the meter readings going back, whether customer generated, estimated or read by visiting meter reader.

As expected, (and as per Jalexa's elec. "reading") no reply yet to my query about the mysterious (ie incorrect!) gas meter read which appeared in MyAccount and which triggered the unneeded DD increase!!:rotfl:

BG allowed me to see all my previous meter readings for 2 years and about a year's worth of readings from the previous owner.
  • I 'switched' to EDF in March - despite meter readings, phone calls, emails they have not taken any Direct Debits! I have chased them - no-one knows whats happening, they promise to call back and don't. I now owe several months of payments through no fault of my own. DD info all correct - its just EDF not knowing what they are doing. Staff are rubbish who I have spoken to. Wish I had not switched.......

I am currently looking to go back to British Gas.

Would not and could not recommend EDF.

I switched in May and they have only just taken my first DD. In the interim I made a payment by phone to cover the outstanding balance. When I did eventually get through by phone chasing it, I was told by a very helpful lady that they had had a problem with Barclays cancelling a load of DD payments but not telling them. I was told that after she'd realised my payments should have come through Barclays. Anyway, they took the details again and it appears to be up and running now. That was even after I'd had a bill saying my DD was increasing slightly and I needed to do nothing!

Undoubtedly the new system was dysfunctional at my last experience a week or so ago but I have to say that I personally have not experienced "rubbish" Edf staff. Quite the contrary and I also think the experience of other posters.

Maybe some "positive mental attitide" would help you navigate the Edf minefield.

A switch back to British Gas is "postive mental". Since you have definately got the "attitide" go for it.:rotfl:

Same here! it was good reading when i saw the last owners electricity usage, i'm sure they were either running the Batman search light or growing a crop in the loft - the usage was immense!

This thread has been helpful as ive just signed up to the FP 2014. I'll try not to give any customer readings and let them estimate until they sort their random calculator out.

Wise, but just to clarify do they have your opening readings? If not you will need to respend to a request to provide opening reads. Perhaps best by phone.

Aren't they entitled to voice their opinion based on their experience?

If staff promise call backs which don't materialise that is 'rubbish'.Nor have their ongoing problems been sorted.
