Wow,they answered the phone within seconds.(.customer services number as on website,)advisor was very helpful, she told me electric reading had been noted, not to worry about gas reading as they are not ready for it yet(supply being taken over on 8th Sept My Account appears to be ahead, rather than behind now),and apparantly the advisor i spoke to on 15th had left a note on my account to increase gas to £70,as she hadnt been able to do it at that time, but its done now..So"touch wood" all is going well.

Although the adviser a few weeks ago said it was the total that mattered not the individual fuel amounts I decided to ring again this afternoon.
Have now managed to increase my gas to £70 and drop the elec to £40. Over 12 months the gas should be correct (only if this winter is similar to the last 2) and the elec should be slightly in credit.
I did ask the adviser about my first 6 month review which will be Feb and the effect of cold weather higher usage but he did say that will be taken into account and it will look at the potential 12 months usage.

From other people's experience I will refrain from submitting any more readings until they ask for them.
I did consider paying the £200 credit I received from closing BG as a lump sum into EDF but he said that could really confuse the DD system.

Just logged on to My Account and the DD has been changed as per my request.

:rotfl:Ha ha,Jalexa....I think im confusing MY ACCOUNT with MY account.. if you know what i mean

The assistant on the phone said i probably shouldnt even have put electric reading in until i'd had official notice-either Email or letter, but i felt i had to as my BG account has shown my electric account as closed.(and MY ACCOUNT wanted a meter reading:think:),she said i should wait until i get Email/letter before putting in gas reading, but im gonna keep an eye on BG account too,if it states gas closed, then i will attempt to give EDF a reading, even if i havent had "official" notice

Yeh mjmal51 they updated my DD to £114...I think that should keep my gas in the balance, but maybe a bit over for electric.
    Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
    GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)

    .

No. MyAccount should not ask if it is not ready. That's a stupid remark by the adviser.

Anyway good that the telephone service is now "working".

Just gave EDF my first month's meter reading (online) since switching to them a month ago.

DD was £88/month. Very little gas used and now my DD is set to £111/month!!!

Anyone else had their DD put up after only a month, based on very low usage figures? Gas/Electric used very low this time of year.

Just had an email to tell me that my gas bill was ready to view (after 6 weeks Summer usage from switch !!) As for other previous posters, DD for gas increased from £57 to £66 pm - I've actually used ~ £18 including the Standing charge!!!
Phone call to ask for basis of calculations coming when they are open this am!
Further point, do they read the meters seperately?? Because they are showing an actual gas meter reading(which I haven't given them ) but the elec. reading is still my opening read from 8 weeks ago.

I think we have discussed this previously and agreed they are showing an estimated reading without an estimated flag. I have an email query out about that. Not yet had a reply but then 10 days haven't elapsed:(

Today is the last day of the 10 days to address my DD scr*w-up complaint. Looks like the phones are going to be busy.

I posted the published Edf DD review policy before but I'll post it again.

    http://www.edfenergy.com/products-services/for-your-home/direct-debit/direct-debit-existing-direct-debit-customers.shtml

It specifies review twice a year, one of which I assume is the annual (April) review. Looks like they have used up their 2nd review.

Jalexa, two points for you to consider:-

I received in the initial pack, a one page document entitled "Budget Direct Debit" - in the small print that suggests that a statement/bill will be raised after a meter reader visit and "may" result in the monthly dd amount being reviewed - I wonder if they count this as "additional" to the twice yearly formal reviews?

Also, re my gas meter read that appeared on My Account after 6weeks- it is now shown on the new statement as "actual" - even tho' I'm convinced a meter reader didn't actually visit because the reading was a lower figure a few days later!!
I intend to major on this second point when I phone shortly.:)

Just to clarify my reading issue. It was my electricity reading which was updated but not marked as an "estimate". But I know the electricity meter wasn't read because it is inside the house (unlike the gas meter).

I must read my welcome pack:D though as its "post contract" I believe is "trumped" by the online procedure visible pre-contract. If I blag that a customer service adviser can't win.:)

Vast improvement in Customer Services telephone contact times. Got thru' straight away this am (after about 60 seconds of messages apologising for long waiting times!!)
EDF C/S Agent agreed that the "review" should not have been carried out after only 6 weeks of Summer usage and restored my DD amount for gas.Suggested that it must have happened because of coincidence with billing cycle dates for my region??
MUCH MORE worrying was that he then remarked that my electricity DD was due to be DECREASED by £12 pm! On what basis neither of us could fathom, so he's cancelled that change as well.
Also could not understand why only the gas reading had been updated as the meter reading contract for my area is for dual fuel readings., especially when I told him that the gas meter reading was suspect high -Has promised to investigate - not holding my breath!!!
I'll be keeping an eagle eye on the account for the next 2-3 weeks to ensure that they 1. dont cancel the DD OR 2. Increase/decrease the agreed amounts!!

I'm glad they provided this online system. You can track each and every random number error it produces.

I have decided not to input anything at all into it or even get EDF to intervene for fear of total breakdown.

It is great entertainment though, to see an almost daily change of status for no apparent reason.

I am working on the assumption it is a system designed to be correct by 2014 to coincide with the fixed period.:D
