I signed up 4th Aug,and my account is showing the same status....im still confused tho,do we do as macman and jalexa have advised and put meter reading in Now,or as youravinalarrrf suggests and wait until further communication?....since this isnt an actual online account(or is it??the BG account I transferred to is purely online, but i think EDF fix2014 is just a traditional account,is that correct,I donr NEED to manage it all online?)..anyhow,since im thinking its not an online account, maybe i should wait until i get a letter or something,The 3 messages on the My Account are contradictory,...dunno if this will copy properly.

    1)Registration in progress[/U]
We’re delighted that you’ve chosen EDF Energy as your energy provider. We’ll now register your contract with us.

    2)Registration in progress
Your welcome pack is on its way and the registration of your contract with EDF Energy is continuing to progress successfully. We will contact you again when this has been completed.
    3)Awaiting opening read
We’ve now set up your contract, and all we need now is a meter reading so we can send you an accurate bill. Please note that if you have a prepayment meter, your key will be issued to you shortly.

Your supply with us started on 04/08/2011

Gas account only has message number 1)

I thought id already had my welcome pack, and i only applied 4th Aug,so supply didnt start then

I don't think you need to manage it online, it's just there to make life easier (or add confusion in EDF's case!)
It's worth phoning them up to ask exactly what your position is with them. Going by recent comments, you're only on hold for 10 to 15 minutes before you get a human. It's an 0800 number so at least it won't cost you anything from a landline. A hands-free phone helps though!
When you do get someone, they are by all accounts, and my own experience, very helpful - almost worth the wait.:)

  • I received an initial Welcome Pack in the post containing basic contract details etc.

Much later in the process I received separate emails (one for gas & one for electric) about 10 days apart asking me to check My Messages online - each headed "Welcome to edf energy" and contained a letter (in PDF format) giving the "Start Date" for supply. That "Start Date" is the date you need to provide the first meter reading.

Why EDF can't simply document the process so their customers know what to expect during the switch is beyond me!

Thanks for clearing that up for me youravinalarrrf..im just going to wait until EDF contact me then....I do remember someone posting elsewhere that if they hadnt checked the My account online so regularly or even if they'd gone on holiday or something for 4weeks and just let EDF "get on with it",the transition from one supplier to another wouldve appeared seemlessly..maybe im focusing too much on the online part just now...
if i remember correctly when i transferred from Scottish power to Scottish gas years ago,I switched over the phone, then about 1 month later got letters from Scottish gas looking for meter readings..nothing online then..and my gas and electric also went through aprox 10days apart.. I ended up paying my Electric DD on 8th of the month and Gas on 18th with Scottish gas..EDF said they;d arrange both for the 1st..im realy hoping they manage that.

  • You will probably find the initial DD payments are taken separately for gas and electric and out of sync (and not on the date requested) due to the Start dates for each supply being different but all subsequent DD payments should then sync as one single payment on the date you requested.

I hope that's not misquoting what I said which was that my switch proceeded in the 4 to 6 week timeframe without having "succeeded" in making contact (though at times the situation merited it).

But "big however", submitting opening reads to the gaining supplier is an intrinsic part the switching process. How you are comfortable doing that is up to you, personally I was happy to stick in MyAccount readings (and screen print) whenever the page allowed it (not always). Given the reports of easier telephone contact perhaps some will prefer that method.

    But open readings are required.

Nope, dont think im misquoting you jalexa ..You do realise im now going to have to search all EDF posts to see who I am "quoting"...or misquoting as the case may be.;)

I have had a successful switch from E.ON to EDF, IF I ignore the on-line account fiasco!
If I'd just initiated the switch, phoned in the meter readings and then gone on holiday for 4 weeks, I would have come back to a more-or-less perfectly executed switch.
However, I made the mistake (I'm not alone) of trying to monitor the process via the on-line account. This is a joke.
Yeah, wasnt too hard to find, this is the reply I was referring to,its actualy in this topic #26 .:)

I signed up with EDF this morning for their price fix 2014, as undoubtedly they will be pulling this soon.

I really didn't want to leave Southern Electric as I have always found their customer service to be excellent, but the price difference worked out at about £400 per year, so had to give it a go.

I just hope that it goes smoothly, switching is always a bit stressful:eek:

    Do EDF do quarterly bills?
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time
