Any positive experiences switching to EDF energy??

Do any of you people pay over the credit balance cheques from the old supplier to counter this, I am surprised that is not a normal part of the process i.e. the old supplier directly transfers outstanding credit/debit balances to new supplier.
I'm sure that those of us that are on top of things are quite capable of doing that. But for your old supplier to pass over any credit you have accumulated to the new one would open a whole new can of worms.
In my case, my new supplier screwed up setting up my DD and the first two have been missed. I manually paid that, but paid the outstanding amount, which being summertime, was less than the DD's would have been. So, I'll probably be in debt a little after the winter and come the next review will either have to accept an increased payment or make another one-off payment to straighten things up. Suits me, rather than effectively paying in advance for my utilities, but I can see how somebody would just see the missed payments as a bonus and get hit come review time - then will appear on here asking if their supplier can do that!:)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I think I probably take the victor2 approach and keep my eye on the balance and then have the "correct" payment maintained at "review", if necessary by making a payment. A couple of things I have decided on, given the scr*w-up every time a customer reading is submitted, I will not be submitting any customer readings until the systems problems are totally resolved. Not a huge problem as I know my annual consumption, something I urge others to be aware of.
Secondly, I set up an online bill payment arrangement using the details in MyAccount and tested it with a token payment. In was sent by Faster Payment and was credited acceptably promptly. Interestingly the EDF customer number does not distinguish between gas and electricity so it will be interesting to see which fuel it is credited to.
Today (or tomorrow) is the 10 working day deadline for a response to my DD "scr*w-up" complaint. No response and I will escalate that as a failure.0 -

It is my plan to pay that into my new EDF account, when i do not know but to stop me spending it it may be soon!0 -
My take on this for what it's worth is if the annual kWh usage figures provided by a customer during the switching process are accurate then the monthly direct debit amounts will be adequate to cover one whole year's usage from the contract start/switch date regardless of any summer/winter variation. One years usage in kWh is one years usage regardless of whether it's summer or winter! The usual summer surplus balance seen on an account can and will occur naturally only if it's given enough time to do so from the contract start/switch date.
As has been said many times before EDF appear to have installed a completely untested computer system (which no doubt cost £millions) which is incapable of understanding and dealing with this simple fact. Reviews now appear to be being carried out automatically each and every time a meter reading is submitted resulting in these wildly inaccurate and incorrect variations to the initial direct debits we keep seeing.0 -
On the surface things still appear to be progressing fine,BUT.
.Gas account has now progressed to "awaiting opening read"...theres no option for me to submit a gas reading, only the electricity one(ive done that already),AND despite me phoning on 15/08 asking that they set the monthly gas DD at £70(and not £63 as advised by EDF),it looks as tho its still set at £63..well im assuming thats the case,as when i check my Account details it states Standard payment amount £107 per month(electricity is £44 month-I think)
Looks like im gonna have to phone them.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)0 -

.
MyAccount is between 1 and 10 days behind what is asked for. Phoning is probably a good idea. IME polite and helpful after a decreasing wait on weekday mornings.0 -

The DDs set by EDF are very similar to yours, mine £61 gas, £44 elec.
This will underpay gas and overpay elec. When I phoned EDF to alter the amounts they said it doesn't matter as the total of £105 will be correct (and that is right).
Will have to keep an eye on this as I do not want them in the future to suddenly increase due to the gas being in debit.
Seems to be a different system to normal, taking the total DD rather than differentiating between fuels.
As jalexa said if you pay in a lump sum how do they know where to apportion it as the money just goes to the one account?0 -
Wow,they answered the phone within seconds.(.customer services number as on website,)advisor was very helpful, she told me electric reading had been noted, not to worry about gas reading as they are not ready for it yet(supply being taken over on 8th Sept My Account appears to be ahead, rather than behind now),and apparantly the advisor i spoke to on 15th had left a note on my account to increase gas to £70,as she hadnt been able to do it at that time, but its done now..So"touch wood" all is going well.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

It really is beginning to look like EDF are getting their act together at last.
