iPhone or Galaxy 2?

Hi
Apparently, Apple have won a court injunction in the Netherlands which will prevent Samsung from selling the Galaxy S and S II in Europe.
I am the first to admit that I am an Apple Geek and love everything Apple. I used to work in the mobile industry and from what I have heard, the Galaxy S II is a great phone and most seem happy with it. If it was me, I would wait for the iPhone 5 which is due in September/ October as I am sure the new handset will be pretty impressive! First the first time I am going to be the ultimate Apple Fanboi and queue outside O2!!
Cheers

Build quality? The iphones build quality isn't better than the SGS2. If you're talking build quality at least the antenna works properly on the SGS2.
Software wise theres nothing ios can do that android can't. The plus for android is that its more open, scales better and is more flexible.
Apple are running scared of samsung and android. Thats why they are trying to block samsung selling their stuff, because they can't compete.0 -

I'm referring to the flimsy plastic back cover and the overall plastic material used in comparison to the glass and metal on the iPhone.0 -
I can point out that the "flimsy plastic back cover" as you call it is actually incredibly strong and resilient, there's some videos on YouTube of people folding and bending them and it just springs back to shape without breaking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErXqnQKs-tA
The Galaxy S2 has a gorilla glass screen but it's true that the rest is plastic not metal (make it lighter)
And yes, Apple is a tad worried about the Samsung toys, however the court case in the Netherlands last week didn't quite go down as well as Apple was hoping for... The only thing that was agreed to be in breach of Apple's patents is the way the picture gallery works in Gingerbread (which can be easily modified - something to do with the "bounce" in the gallery I think), tablets aren't affected because the gallery in Honeycomb is different. All the other claims got thrown out by the judge (also worth noting that Apple's claim to the "slide to unlock" patent was not just rejected but they were told that their patent was basically *invalid*). All the prior art was duly dug out and ooops some other phone had slide to unlock many years before Apple claims they came up with it

To throw a spanner in the works, I've got a Nokia N8. Since its received the new firmware update anna. Faster browser, better appearance, and there are so many good free apps, games, etc for it.
Nokia will be moving to windows 7 eventually, but symbian will be about for many years.
Got a 12mp camera, great for playing music on, and games. Nokias have great hardware. Mines been dropped a few time, but still going.0 -
well, if you are going for the entertainment (and you said you will) then a phone that runs with android is generally the better idea i think Android has the greatest market share (and growing) in almost all European countries and is one of the 3 big in the US too. (look for the "kantar worldpanel report" / "android market share" on google)
and as far as I'm concerned Samsung is only hindered to release their tablet for now. Doesn't affect the Galaxy series though does it?0 -

Absolutely nothing wrong with plastic, its more resilient that glass, that breaks, and lighter than metal which dents.
I'm happy with plastic as I'm sure you are in other products you own, only looking down on its use in phones in a vain effort to prove the current iphone is better than it is.0 -

Have to agree that nokia make some good hardware, I have a nokia 6700 classic which is an awesome phone. They are lacking on the software front though.
Its a pity they dumped meego for windows. Meego had potential and I would have bought a meego phone. They can keep the winmob phones.0 -

I'm simply pointing out that there is a difference in the materials used, and that I think the materials used in one device are superior to those used in another. It's a valid point and one that anyone should consider when deciding what device to buy.0 -
Despite all the logic I regret getting a Galaxy S2, Shoulda went for iPhone 4, I can't put my finger on why exactly, I suppose I had a 3GS and was an apple fan, the Galaxy S2 for me has no desire factor where as the iPhone does.0
