I wish to Thank to Allan and Nidje for their inputs.
I spoke to AOL couple of days ago. I was told that the £9.99 deal was available but as the system was down I had call back another time.
I spoke with AOL today and spoke to a rep. I told them to get me a Supervisor. The Sup. told me that the promo FINISHED on 15th Jan. I created a stink and said that as I already was promised this deal but since the system was down they should give me this deal.
He finally agreed £9.99 deal for next 12 months.
So I urge you to give this a try.

The offer is still on folks and with a bit of perseverance you can get it. I phoned up this morning and told them I had read on the net that some people are paying £9.99 for silver whereas I was paying £17.99.
I was told the offer had finished and that the best they could do was bring it down to £15.99 and send me a free wireless router which I refused and asked to be put through to cancellations which they did. The cancellations dept started saying what a loyal customer I was and that I could have the £9.99 offer.
I also asked them how I was meant to have found out about this offer and was told that it wasn't advertised and could only have found out if I had phoned the AOL helpline.

That's interesting, following on from my success my OH tried to get it last week and they refused point blank to give it to him they said initially that there was no such offer, then they said that it was no longer available and then finally they said that it wasn't open to him because of his BT line

He was quite persistent  but they would not budge. The best he was offered was a free month. He did say he wanted to cancel but he has a few months to run in his contract and that wasn't really an option.

Has anyone else been told they couldn't receive it because of their BT line? I'm afraid I'm no techie so I have no idea if this is correct.

The number I called is 0870 320 2020. IMO it really makes a difference who you speak to, some AOL reps can be more helpful than others. Try and if you get nowhere just phone again after a few minutes and you'll end up speaking to a different person. I've been with AOL for 8 years so that may have worked in my favour

I didn't call on the phone.

I used Live help instead here:

    http://help.aol.co.uk/live-help/article/20060814072509990002

This way the "call" is recorded.
Do try to stay firm and if not happy insist to speak to the supervisor like I did, and get a result.

    Good luck.

You can half your cost and have the same speed by going to Silver, £9.99 a month 2mb

Ms Patel, she told you her name?! I asked on Live Help and he just kept copying his original response, which was basically no. Muppets. I wouldn't stay with them unless I was getting the silver for £9.99 a month, which I am :T

"We are doubling the speed on our Silver broadband package to 2Mb from 15th Jan 07, the price stays the same at £14.99. We will continue to offer 1 month free (if ordered online), plus a FREE wireless router worth £55"

The new Compare Our Packages table on their own site only states a free modem for the £14.99 deal, not a free wireless router, so check what you are getting. Also still shows £29.99 for Platinum not the £24.99 mentioned earlier.
