  • Well, the response to the second letter was to offer a tiny sum, as was expected. For my third letter, I basically sent the second letter again, just mentioning that they'd offered the tiny sum and that also was not an acceptable response.

Result from third letter, enough disclaimers to make Sir Humphrey blush, followed by an offer for the full amount with interest! Signed and returned the form and my balance is that bit less scary!

Thanks for all the help! I would encourage anyone considering it to just go for it!

Yes, there are templates on the main site if you get stuck, If you have online banking have you checked if you have details of the amounts and dates of the charges there, it would save you a tenner!

Or you could try sending the letter for information without a cheque, some banks will send them, depends how urgently you need the money.

Ok I'm just about to send the first letter to EGG. (about time!!)
It's for just under £900 including 8% interest.(It would be over the £1k mark but i can only claim the past 5 years in Scotland.) :(

What's the best address to send it to?

  • Hi, I'm just about to send the letter to Egg to start the re-claiming process, does anyone know if they do charge £10 for the backdated statements? Would just like to check before I send it! Thanks
