Yes - I just claimed from Egg - follow the instructions in the MSE guide.0

So if I wanted to claim charges for both my Egg credit card AND loan, would they have to be treated as separate claims (and therefore I'd need to send a £20 PO for statements), or would it just be the same thing?0
-
Does the fact that the account is long-since closed have any bearing on anything? Problem is I can't find my account number anywhere as the account no longer exists on the website. Can I ask for statements without such information?
EDIT, does the template letter on the site cover credit card reclamation or does it only apply to banks?0 -
So is the answer to my original question "would they have to be treated as separate claims"
a) YES they are separate claims
or
b) NO, same thing
Then "Does the fact that the account is long-since closed have any bearing on anything?"
a) YES it will hamper your efforts
or
b) NO it won't make any difference
Finally "does the template letter on the site cover credit card reclamation or does it only apply to banks?"
a) YES it is exactly the same
or
b) NO there is another letter for credit cards
I'd like to get this sorted out before I retire.0 -

You can do either - if you do decide to merge them make sure that you state the break down. E.g. "I am claiming £100.00 (£25 for account x and £75 for account z) this way, if it goes to court and you claim interest you will be able to allocate the interest to the relevant charges.
Then "Does the fact that the account is long-since closed have any bearing on anything?"
a) YES it will hamper your efforts
or
b) NO it won't make any difference
Doesn’t matter if the account is closed - if anything it can be better as the bank cannot threaten to close your account. If you mean does it effect your credit rating the answer is no.Finally "does the template letter on the site cover credit card reclamation or does it only apply to banks?"
a) YES it is exactly the same
or
b) NO there is another letter for credit cards
You can use the template for credit cards but obviously change the relevant wording
I'd like to get this sorted out before I retire.
As Take That said - have a little patience
hope the above helps0 -
I've recently incurred a couple of over credit limit charges on my Egg Card.
The problem is they've charged me £16 which as we all know is above the £12 limit recommended by the OFT.
I've emailed them on 2 separate instances requesting they refund the difference between £12 and £16, there being 3 charges which of course comes to the massive total of £12.
In spite of me letting them know that I am prepared to delve back over the 6 years to see what the total charges are (I know for a fact that I was being pasted for charges around 2002) and suggesting that they will be a lot higher than the £12 I am asking for. The stubborn b*ggerss have still refused, so being the awkward so-and-so that I am I'm considering taking them on just for the hell of it (damn I hate bullies). I've also threatened to make formal complaints to the OFT and the Financial Services Commission.
So what I really need to know is how powerful is the OFT finding that charges should be no more than £12? And has anyone here taken on Egg?
Is it just me, but I was sure these firms tout the internet as allowing them to have lower overheads therefore need to charge less? Even Capital One only charges the recommended £12!Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.0 -
My daughter sent an SAR to Egg 37 days ago she has just received a letter which says that as the account is closed they need proof of identity. They sau that once they receive this they then have 40 days to give her the information. Is this right( I don't think so). Or is a call to the ICO in order. As well as a note to Egg in with the ID to say that they do not have another 40days. Can anyone help.0

Hello,
My other half is currently paying £25 a month to Capquest for an Egg card that they used to have.
Does anyone know if Capquest are able to provide statements showing all payments that they have made, and also their details from their previous Egg account?
They have previously made it sound as though they cannot provide statements although I think this sounds extremely dodgy.
Any advice on this would be much appreciated!!
Thanks!0 -
I received an offer off Egg (after sending the preliminary letter) where they have done the normal thing of taking my 27 £20 charges and offering me the £4 difference between £20 and £16 making a grand total of £108!
I assume I should reject and continue the process but just wondering if anyone has any Egg specific tips which might bring this to an early win? Also wondering if I'm lucky to get such an offer at this early stage. I've read other posts and a lot of people seem to get fobbed off. I have been with them since 1998 I think and I'm sure they treat older customers better than they do newer ones!
Cheers
Chris0
