Egg sold mine to CSL aswell - I went straight to egg for the bits and bobs and when CSL called for a payment I told them that payments were suspended until egg had repaid my charges back to me. because egg have dragged their heels for so long, CSL told egg they didn't want to collect from me anymore because I was being difficult - egg have now sent it to another debt collection company and they are a lot more understanding of the situation - mainly because I have said to them as soon as the charges have been resolved I will pay them.

    Oh!!! I like it!!!
So not only can I do it, but also, hopefully, get rid of the horrible CSL company in the process - nice!!!
Thanks so much for the advice - I can't wait until CSL call me again! (Never thought I'd say that after 17 calls in 20 days from them! :rotfl: )

I recently transferred a balance to my egg card and forgot to change the payment instruction from 'pay all' to 'pay minimum monthly' and so they applied to my account with Lloyds for over £5000. Obviously this was declined by Lloyds, Egg charged me £16 fee which I tried to argue against but they said that because I agreed to have my payments taken by DDebit they had special dispensation from the FSA to charge £16. I took this one on the chin but now Lloyds have charged me £35.
Are Egg right in what they say and as it was my mistake do I have any grounds to argue the case?

Also, if anyone can help me, does this reclaim charges thing apply to a business overdraft. Sadly I have gone bust and keep getting interest charges charged against me and direct debits knocked back and even more charges! Unfortunately I gave a personal guarantee so am now liable for a large debt. Yes, I am in fix and cant afford to pay the 2 charges above as it is!
Thanks in advance for any help.

What were their exact words? From what I know, they did not get 'special dispensation', the OFT simply said they wouldn't take action against them for fees of £16 and under. This sounds misleading at best. If it's one charge, it's up to you whether to pursue it. I would be interested to see evidence of this 'special dispensation' they claim from the FSA.

Amy they would say that! It's a similar reply most people receive, just another fob off. I would send your letter giving them 14 days to pay you back your charges or you will take them to court.

Stick to your timescales as if it went to court you have a 99.9% chance of winning.

    Good luck

    Taff ;)

I put in a claim with Egg for £160. Having read the posts on this thread I was concerned as I am on a DMP and my egg account has been moved to a DCA. I was so concerned that I almost accepted their first offer of £30!

Decided that £30 was going to achieve anything in paying my debts off so sent a no thank you and LBA. Today I have received an offer for the full £160!!! :j
One day I will be debt free and fat free!:grinheart

This is a normal "trying to put you off" letter. I've had a few of these from Egg.

Just sent them the next letter.

I'm at court stage with them now
