as well as all the serious stuff why not have a good bath and hair wash, or paint your toenails, or something HAPPY and not terribly important?
sounds like a plan. Hope you have a good evening, its been fun talkingKnock me down I'll get right back up again, I'll come back stronger than a powered up Pac-Man0 -
Yeah, have a great night lostinrates.
I need to find some food, I guess. Chocolate is more tempting...
Washing my hair takes hours! It's far too long. It takes years to dry, too...and I'm a rubbish nail-painter, I've got a shake, haha!
I just wanted Penn and Teller, that Fool Us program. Magic isn't really my thing but some of them were very good, quite distracting!
Do you mind me asking where you found your volunteer jobs? (I really hope I didn't dream that you've got one!) I think I'd be too ill to do one but it seems like it'd be a good way to meet people.0 -
Here are a couple of volunteer sites that a friend recommended to me: http://vinspired.com/ and http://timebank.org.uk/ i also found http://www.do-it.org.uk/ to be a good one (probably the best in my opinion). You could also just search for charities in your local area that interest you (mental health, animal, elderly etc). Back in Oct i worked for an animal charity walking dogs. I explained that i had a health problem and that i wanted to try working to see whether i am capable of eventually going into full time work. They were great and were happy to let me try out different hours etc. Unfortunately, my health wasn't so good back then and i had to leave but they did say if i ever wanted to come back to try again then to just let them know. I've decided i am better off working else where- somewhere less physically demanding and where i get to meet people, rather than animals, but it was good to try it out. A lot of charities will be pleased to receive any help they can get so most places, as long as they dont need to spend a lot of time and money training you, will probably be happy to take you on.
Chocolate is always goodIm currently working my way through a big box of cookies my sister sent me the other day to make me feel better.

Mmm, cookies. Are they nice? I'd love to receive a box of cookies, that's so unique! Did she make them herself or are they from a company?
I'll check out those sites now, thank you. Hopefully I can find something! Looking is a good way to keep busy, I've got that kind of irritated boredom, if that makes sense! I just can't find anything that will keep my attention. Prrft.0 -

Yeah they are really nice. Although ive not really been feeling like eating them as ive been feeling sick most of the week. They are fresh cookies though so need using up. Ive just put some in the freezer. Not sure if thats ok, but google tells me it is. She didn't make them herself, she lives in America so i dont think they would survive the journey
I hate that type of boredom, i find everything so annoying and its like my brain has gone fuzzy. I'm sure you will find some work, it would be great if you could do something, even if it was just for a couple of hours a week if you can manage it.Knock me down I'll get right back up again, I'll come back stronger than a powered up Pac-Man0 -
It's been really good talking to you, thank you for posting this in the first place, and for updating it. Your updates should help keep me motivated too! I'm not feeling too good at the moment, keep going hot and cold...like one extreme to the other. No idea what's wrong?! There is a lot of admin work vacancies around me, and driving, but neither sound like they would be very sociable. Where do you work?0

The admin work could still lead to being invited to social events from other volunteers and stuff though. Ive worked for two charities before and they both had a lot of fund raising events that all the staff were invited to.
I don't currently do voluntary work but i have found two positions i am going to apply for, both for a mental health charity. One is a befriending scheme and another is where you help people with issues look after an allotment. I think they both sound like fun and i really hope i get both of them. I love cooking and im really interested in learning about ingredients and ive always wanted my own allotment so it sounds perfect for me.Knock me down I'll get right back up again, I'll come back stronger than a powered up Pac-Man0 -

I was wondering the same thing! I've been waiting for the thread to pop up with an update.
I've got such a headache today...did more driving though, and I've got another lesson tomorrow. I'm moving the car around now, I can do left turns...hate T junctions, but I guess I'll get there!
I hope you are okay too x0 -

.
This is very true. Before I was ill, and when I was in London still after giving up work I used to do both charity work and some help with charity events organising. It was the skills I have useful for events that made me volunteer, but particularly while I was coping with not working for the first time in my life the office based volunteering became really of benefit to me: before that I felt quite useless. This becomes very rewarding in itself, and the social contacts can be really good. As a bonus, I'd never done large scale admin before and I found mindless letter franking became a real delight, and when I later temped in an office situation the speed I franked mail at became almost legendary! Likewise envelope sealing. Its easy work, but it allows you to chat with other volunteers and saves someone employed for skill some time and thus is a genuine contribution too.
I genuinely miss volunteering for my favourite chrities. coin operated girl, lots of charities have Head offices in London..
