Its a bit odd that you seem to think people hardly ever get ill...what do you think the NHS is spending all that money on?0 -

You can keep hoping all you like, that you are right, doesn't make it so.
I think that you may find one can over indulge in drinking water with fatal consequances http://health.howstuffworks.com/diseases-conditions/death-dying/water-intoxication.htm
Anyways perhaps the OP should concern herself about herself 1st and if there is room for her partner so it be, I don't think though what her partner maybe saying should be dismissed, maybe he likes the more slender type, it does not sound like they are in a set up which should be saved0 -

Arrogance? I don't believe I mentioned that, I presume you have a bit of a problem with your weight then?
So do I sometimes as it happens, but I don't look down on anyone else who is different. Or wish bad things on them so they know what it is like.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Sunbeds causing cancer is not really the issue here though is it? The problem is this woman is having her self esteem and confidence trampled on by the man who is supposed to love her.
OP you really need to have a talk with him and ask him why he wants you to be slimmer, hair done and tanned. If it's a case of he's noticed you're down and he thought that he was helping in his own insensitive way then you need to tell him that he's hurting you with your comments. If it's the case that he just wants a slimmer, tanned, better looking girlfriend well I personally would show him the door and tell him to go and find one!
Lotus-eater - the woman who "knows" she'll never be more than a size 10 so her OH is happy??? Well she must have a crystal ball and know exactly how her health is going to be until the day she dies. I take it she's never going to be pregnant and is immune from all those illnesses and diseases that us mere mortals can get? She'll never have to take steroids or any other medication that can make you gain weight?
My OH has kidney failure and has dialysis 3 times a week, he puts on about 2-3kg in weight in 2 days between his dialysis sessions, it's all fluid and it's removed during dialysis. The point I'm trying to make is weight and your size is not entirely dependant on what you eat or how often you go to the gym and if the woman and her partner are so fixated on size they may just get a shock one day.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

Ok, whatever you say.
I genuinely hope you and she are never forced to realise the truth. Did you even read my whole post or you being deliberately obtuse and ignoring reality?0 -

Statistically nobody gets ill? :rotfl:0 -

Whatever they are forced to realise is up to them!
