Lotus-eater - the woman who "knows" she'll never be more than a size 10 so her OH is happy??? Well she must have a crystal ball and know exactly how her health is going to be until the day she dies. I take it she's never going to be pregnant and is immune from all those illnesses and diseases that us mere mortals can get? She'll never have to take steroids or any other medication that can make you gain weight?
My OH has kidney failure and has dialysis 3 times a week, he puts on about 2-3kg in weight in 2 days between his dialysis sessions, it's all fluid and it's removed during dialysis. The point I'm trying to make is weight and your size is not entirely dependant on what you eat or how often you go to the gym and if the woman and her partner are so fixated on size they may just get a shock one day.
I don't know why you're trying to convince me, I don't carethey might get a shock, they might not, that's their choice. I just said an innocent thing about someone I know and as usual someone always takes things too far.

You really don't read very well, do you?
All those people with thyroid disorders must be greatly comforted to know that they're just statistical blips! :rotfl:
LE, as you clearly don't think very well, I won't waste anymore energy trying to reason with you!0 -

Whether they are comforted or not, doesn't alter the fact I am right.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

I wonder if you know my old neighbour!
Not sure what your point is though, one person manages to stay slim forever, therefore everybody can?0 -

You can keep hoping all you like, that you are right, doesn't make it so.
I'm afraid your statistics are (more than a bit) out.
15 in every 1,000 women and 1 in every 1,000 men in the UK are likely to develop an underactive thyroid problem. Source NHS
Further quotes from that sourceCommon signs of an underactive thyroid are tiredness, weight gain and feeling depressed. An underactive thyroid cannot be prevented. Most cases of underactive thyroid are caused either by your immune system attacking your thyroid or a damaged thyroid
According to the Daily Wail 1 in 5 people in the UK will suffer this condition.
And this is just ONE condition affecting metabolic function. My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Ahh phooey, You can prove anything you like with statistics
Anyway, the statistic was for a thyroid to be taken out, then 2 years of meds not working, probably far lower than 15 in a 1000. Which is already a tiny percentage.
Which means it's highly unlikely, which is what I saidFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
