You pay for everything except incoming texts, but your main concern is mobile data. Switch data roaming off. For extra safety you can switch 'always on mobile data' off as well.

Just to be extra sure, when I went to Spain a couple of months ago with my Galaxy S, I went into.....
Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > Orange UK Internet > APN.... I then added a 1 to the end of "orangeinternet" making it "orangeinternet1" this totally disables internet services..... once home knock the "1" off and you'll be back to normal.
  • I bought a samsung galaxy s I9000 Phone from a classified ad seller in my local paper, It was working very well for two weeks and i bought it without box, just charger and headphone so had a good price really of £140 i thought. the seller came to my house also. Now it is showing the message 'Data Network Unavailable' and wont work with my o2 sim, its an unlocked phone as i used orange in it too. the o2 Sim works in my old Nokia.

I feel i might have been messed around by the seller asI cant get in touch with them, samsung said there mite be a problem with the phone and to ''return it to seller for a refund'' unhelpful.

I am worried this phone might have been a lost one, and has been blocked. Can anyone shed any light on it? thanks. Mike

Call O2 and ask them to check to see if it's blocked, if you've been using it with your O2 SIM they'll be able to check, but it sounds like it has been I'm afraid.

I think if it's blocked any network would be unavailable, not only 'Data Network'

The "wont work with my o2 sim" part makes me think it wont work at all, but if it's just data then it's probably worth checking the APN settings (settings > wireless & networks > mobile networks > access point names).

can you make and receive calls?
if so then its not blocked

Can you use the orange sim to make and receive calls in it?
if so then again its not blocked

May be you have just lost the data setting for the internet
if its that case then just ring O2 for the data setting to be sent to your phone.

If you go to settings > wireless and network > mobile networks > network operators and let it search, does it come up with any networks being available? (It may take a minute or so to search, then there should be a list O2, Tmobile, 3 etc, under the two options of search networks and select automatically). If it doesn't, then I'd say the phone is likely blocked.
