I remember the original thread...and posted a few thoughts on it...however I can't help but think its time to "put it away" now.

The original posting was heartfelt and thought provoking, and the OP on a daily basis was giving an account of how her life and her daughters life was progressing after she became aware of her child pregnancy...

However.... the thread has now been locked and what surprises me is that it seems to have been given a "soap opera " status being given new life by someone "wondering where it has gone"...people are still commenting...and they have nothing to comment on...the OP isn't posting so its become full of assumptions

Perhaps its time to wish the OP and her family good luck over the comming months with whatever decisions they need to make..and let the thread go...

I thought poppyfields behaved with considerable dignity throughout what must have been a very worrying, distressing and frustrating time for her, not to mention having to read the admittedly few really nasty posts which imho deserved to be reported.

I hope that the counselling session went well and that both her and her daughter have moved forward even a little from where they were last week.

I think that unless a post is gratuitously offensive personal abuse it should be left in situ. People do have differing opinions and if the only way some posters can be secure with their opinion is to report those of others, then they are the ones with the problem.

If you start a thread asking for advice and opinion that is what you will get, some of it you will agree with some you won't. The OP seemed to take all opinions onboard, it was others who couldn't seem to do that.

    Hi just saw this thread,
I didn't request the original post be closed but perhaps it was about time it was. I know this forum is for money saving not personal problems, but I do know what the arms section is like and I knew if I posted there, I'd probably not get real advice and genuine support - maybe that is wrong but I have seen people give good and realistic advice on this section. I do have a main account, definitely not a troll post. Thanks for your posts, it probably was best the thread was closed if it was causing the team bother - thank you to everyone who did reply and offer support and their opinions, I really, really appreciate it.

I do hope things work out well for your family ....perhaps - once the dust has settled and you know which way things are going, you might be able to post again - just so that we know that you all are okay!

Poppyfield there were a lot of people who read all of the thread and updates because they genuinely wanted to keep up to date on your situation and to support you . it would be a shame to let a few people spoil that for you.

I can understand why you wouldn't want to post anymore however there still are a lot of genuine people on here who do a good job :)

Good luck to you and your daughter

ah poppyfield hope you will let us know how things pan out for you and your daughter? xx

As usual the minority spoil it for everyone, someone comes for advice and support and the thread ends up with some posters thinking they need to endlessly pontificate their own views. *sigh*

    Happy moneysaving all.

Is this really a site for sensitive subjects though?

The arms was given to us so that we could discuss OT but now it seems every board is allowed to go the same way

I fell through the floor when I saw someone post that this was a " social networking site"

I think that may have been me. The site is classed as a social networking site. Don't take my word for it, the write up is somewhere on Martin's blog and also here http://news.icm.ac.uk/business/retail/money-saving-expert-proves-popular/919/
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • I'm pretty sure from what I last read on it, she was keeping the baby as already 16weeks.
Good luck to them both, I'm still very interested in who the father is. Hopefully OP will post an update on the whole situation soon.

Isn't it to be expected though to receive people's different views and opinions on a web forum? Especially on something as emotive as teen pregnancy Would be a bit boring and pointless if we all agreed and had no debate on here.

What spoiled the thread and got it closed was people reporting other people's posts purely because they didn't like an opinion. I was following the thread and only saw a handful of posts that should have been reported, clearly lots of folk were complaining and wasting the mods time.

I would find these forum really boring if everbody only offered hugs and poor you to people who come looking for advice. Some times people need to hear some straight talking advice.

If I were in the OP's position I would be disappointed in myself that my daughter had been pregnant for over 3 months and not felt able to talk to me. I would also be disappointed that she couldn't share any information over the father of her child, but that's just me.

I do wish them both the best of luck for the future though.
