    Thanks doozer.

This is the quickest picture I can find to try and show what I mean about the breakfast bar. I definitely agree about the poles - I don't want that at all. I was thinking about having nothing under the breakfast bar so people can sit at both sides. A bit like this:

    nolte-nova-lack-kitchen.jpg

You can just see how the breakfast bar is propped up the worktop timber where the lady is standing (no metal pole!). The drawers as you can see run under the breakfast bar - yes I know these may be a bit of a pain to access, though if I only keep the stuff that's used rarely here it could be ok? I'm still at the planning stage so things can easily change.

Maybe not the best pic - but I'm at work! hehe.

Whoo hoo, I guessed right ;)

    KERRRRCHING!!!!

    That looks spot on!! :D

The only things I'm thinking about are:

    1. If I should have the drawers fill the full length of the wall, as that little corner would be a nice nook to sit in, away from the door / more space for 2 people to sit there whilst someone cooks. So I could remove one of the drawer sets if needed. What size are those drawers?

    2. And I'm not sure if the breakfast bar should be on top of the units or like a flush continuation (like the worktop sweeps round on top of the wine / bottle fridge)

*Meeps - please note, these were things I have already been contemplating in my head - you got the plan spot on!!! You also changed the other corner units up a height to be more linear - which I also prefer (forgot to ask you about that actually)!! Really a top job fella, and I really do appreciate the help - I know kitchen planners are a whizz on the software needed to make these plans, but it still takes time up - which you didn't have to do for me.

I did try it with the units finishing short, but it just didn't look right for some reason, it also makes the breakfast bar look like an afterthought, instead of a design feature. The drawers are all 800mm, as they fit neater.

    2. And I'm not sure if the breakfast bar should be on top of the units or like a flush continuation (like the worktop sweeps round on top of the wine / bottle fridge)

Again, I think it looks neater sat on top and is more of a design feature. You are going for a very German looking kitchen and that's what it gives you. The other thing to consider is: if you ever get fed up with the breakfast bar (or if it got damaged somehow), you can just take it out, as it's not inbuilt with the rest of the worktop and would be easier to replace.

Honestly, it's not a problem. I'm happy to help out when I can and having the design software is a huge advantage. You could spend weeks and weeks trying to get it right with an online planning package, but it just never works out right due to how restrictive they are.

Well let me know if you want to make the amendments or not, and when we've got it boxed off, I'll give you the base-plan so you can just hand it in and say "I want that" :)

Meeps, you really are a star. I'm going to speak to a few friends and family etc just to get some feedback. You are indeed correct, I'm going for a very german kitchen. It is contemporary and may date in a few years, though I like the fact it's white which is nice enough to contrast with wall colours and the worktops etc. I also like simple styled stuff. The doors could always be painted in the future, and indeed handles added (if it ever came to such drastic measures! lol)

I also agree about the breakfast bar points - though if I ever decide to remove it / clean it etc, I'll have a lovely dark / light patch!! hehe. The only concern really is people being close to the door - having said that - the door opens into the hallway - not the kitchen.

Also, I'd like to know what the options are for the corner units and smaller drawers within the large drawers (like a cutlery drawer in the top of one of the drawers), how the corner units open / have inside. It's a shame my local magnet haven't got back in touch with me - you've been more of a help, and dealt with the whole lot online!

I also need to look at the appliances to go with this kitchen, and fit inside. Any chance on some model numbers of what would fit / decent gear? I like your idea of neff on display, bosch in cupboards. Probably going to opt for a cheap samsung double FF (I just had the cold water feed installed for that the other day - so it will be happening!! :D)

    I'll keep you posted.

The way the layout is at the moment, the corner unit is a 935x935mm L shape unit, this does however restrict what you can do with it, short of using a carousel, it would have to be shelved and would have two simple doors, with one needing to be opened before the other one, if you see what I mean? As for the drawers, you have two options, a 800mm pan drawer or a 800mm pan drawer with internal drawer. If it was me, I'd be putting the ones with the internal drawers under the hob and leaving the others as the normal pan drawers.

Appliance wise, pretty much any will fit, as they are all of a standard size now-a-days. If you can let me know a budget for all of the appliances and then I'll have a look for you. I think the Neff + Bosch combination would work best for style and cost-effectiveness. DO NOT get a Samsung USA F/F, you could spend a hundred or so more and get something of much better quality and reliability...

Hope that helps? Which branch have you been in to? And can you PM me the name of the designer?

Yeah - I know exactly what you mean. Hmmm...is there no other unit we could use? Or storage system? What about a soft closing pull and swing corener unit somehow?

I agree about the smaller drawers under the hob - they'd be most handy for cutlery and bits and bobs. Are they literally the only options? I see the 'blumotion internal drawer system' looks like it has more internal drawers - though perhaps these are the height of two drawers together?

Whilst I agree I need some deep drawers for big pans and woks etc, I would like the option of a few drawers / compartments within the drawers if you get what I mean?

Well I was thinking perhaps 3k for appliances - not really sure. I'd like a USA FF with ice and drinks dispenser - be willing to look at recommendations and suggestions.

I'll PM you as I don't know the designer.

I really like the breakfast bar on top, don't get rid of it! If you're using proper wood, if you did remove it, you could sand it and refinish and it would look like new.

We've got two sets of 1m drawers with a smaller drawer on top in our island. One is more than big enough for all our cutlery. The other is already rammed full of rubbish; you don't need it! It's a lot of added expense for drawers to put stuff that should live somewhere else ;) Big drawers rock!

Yeah - pretty much my thoughts exactly Doozer. Just weighing up all the options etc. I am more inclined to keep the breakfast bar on top of the other worktop as a design feature. Also as suggested it can be removed if needs be etc. Now I just need to go about buying it all for the most competitive price.

Oh - the oven hood by the way I think I'll be going for a more simpler version.

Meeps - in the unit with the oven(s), does the draw pull out under and above or are they cupboards? Also - is there an opening cupboard above the USA FF?

What's people's opinions of a built under sink? I like the idea of it, though just think about the water and grime build up between the bowl and the wood.

    Cheers
