Whilst your point about the legality is valid, it's not helpful to post in scary bold letters quite so categorically when the OP is emotional and trying to find the best way to help her daughter, that's all. :)

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

    Vax, button it !!!!!!!

What is it with bloody morons on this thread?!

OP, you and your daughter have a fantastic relationship. This test has just proved that. She was able to tell you and you were able to take it in without going off your trolley.

I hope your daughter can come to a decision which she will be happy with, bless her, she must be so scared :(

I do hope if my daughter ever found herself in the same situation, that she could feel that she could tell me too x

No "possibilities" exist, she was raped that's the law and someone needs to act as the child's parent or guardian to make sure that it does not happen again.

If the lad she had sex with is the same age as her, does that mean she raped him?

See how flawed your theory is?!

It's not needed or wanted on this thread anyway.

Why not start a debate about it on the Discussion Time board and leave this thread for the OP?

Rape and statutory rape and 2 very different things. Please dont confuse the two.

Rape is rape, non consentual sex, against the will of the victim.

Stat rape refers to the girl or boy being under the age of consent, they can give verbal content to have sex but the law decided that they are incapable of giving the choice. She is 15 not 12!!!

If both are under 16 then no one can be prosecuted for stat rape, if he is 16-19 it is highly unlikely he will be prosecuted given her age.

So please stop confusing the two, your really annoying and quite dense at times.

Unfortunatly its that kind of thread, everyone has a opinion be it hepful or non helpful.

fwiw i think the op is obviously doing a good job if her daughter can confide in her mum, and i really hope you can work ths out i have 3 daughters of my own and this thread is one of the things that scares the begeebers out of me as mine are all too young yet (eldest is in primary school just) so i have all of this to come one day hopefully not too soon though and i just hope im as calm as the op has been
It is better to stay silent and be thought a fool, than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt. :p

The OP has known for less than 24hrs. Today is a day for 'finding out things', in a careful, considered and caring way. Today is not for knee jerk reactions and random rash decisions.
To the OP, I think you are doing brilliantly, and whilst you've had some very good advice and support here, it's fair to say this thread has attracted some extreme responses. Keep up the good work. After all, it doesn't all have to be resolved today.

I...just ignore those who don't seem capable of saying anything constructive

You have to bear in mind though, that what is considered constructive might not be the 'popular' thing to say. I am tired of myself and others being vilified because we might say something that is not considered 'constructive'.

    It is THE LAW
    Sorry but it is.

Then you need to read up on your law and see how things differ if the underage person is under 13 compared with if he/she is 13-16 :D
Here to learn and pass on my experiences.

OP I've not got any practical advice that hasn't already been given here, but I couldn't just read and run.

I think you are handling this situation fantastically and your daughter is very very lucky to have such a supportive mum.

If she won't tell you who the dad is I wonder if it's worth having a little chat with her friends parents (the one she stayed with last night) to see if they know anything.....there have been times when my dd has told me thinks when she's been worried about some of her friends. It's a long shot but it might be worth a try.
