Daughter is pregnant - at 15!

I am using another account name.

I realise this may not have anything to do with money but have seen people get good advice on this section so would appreciate if this topic can stay.

I don't want to type too much, but about 2pm, I found out that my 15 year old daughter... is pregnant. I'm in complete shock. I'm not angry at all, almost numb and just so confused really.

She is staying at a friends house tonight and left a 1.30pm. She hasn't been herself lately, but she sent me a text when she got there asking if she could phone, she had to tell me something.... she said it was easier not having to do it in person. She just told me that she was pregnant, that I should know.

What do I do? I know I have to talk to her, but I'm just....

I am so sorry for your situation. I got pregnant at 15 its was really hard. My parents wanted me to abort and I got talked round, it was hard going but it was the best decision I have ever made in my life.

Is she in a relationship? Does she know who the father is? Do you know him?

Does she have any plans as to what she wants to do?

Stay calm, she needs support at this time.

She trusts you enough to tell you, do you know if she wants to keep it or not? Is the father in the picture?

    Hugs and best wishes!

Thank you for the supportive replies :)

She has never mentioned any boyfriend at all. She was with someone her age when she was 14, but that was 'silly' and didn't mean anything, and they were really just friends.

    :(

You need to find out who she has been sleeping with, get her an STI check and make sure it was consensual and that he isn't an adult.

    Is she coming home tonight?

If not get the wine out

I think the key here is communication.

You need to sit and have a chat and find out exactly what she wants and what she needs from you.

You may find that she has already decided that she wants to keep/terminate and is looking for your support in that.

If she hasn't, maybe she is looking to you for guidance?

Either way, try your best to be there for her in whatever way she requires, as I'm sure you will.

I can't decide if I should get her to come home early or if that's going to stir things up more. The plan is she'll come home at 9am in the morning, she is at a friends tonight.

DO NOT call them until you have spoken to your daughter. If he is the same age as her all you will do is make the situation worse for her and push her away.

Let her stay and use the time to get your head straight. She is going to need you to hold yourself together. Also go and buy a test, just to be on the safe side. She could have got it wrong.

Thanks for your replies so far Kimberley.

No worries - I definitely wouldn't be calling the police or doing anything until I speak to her.
