Isn't it "sex with a minor" or whatever? I thought it was illegal but in general it is never followed up (because there is no real point).
Starting to doubt myself now though!
Yes it is followed up and they have a special prison in a town called wakefield which has 750 specialist places for adults who confuse morals for the Law regarding "consent" , these people are considered so dangerous that it is only one of two prisons in the country that have a AAA security rating.

Just an observation really and going on what I see around here.

A lot of young girls seem to be having babies and then their parents (usually the Mother) seem to take over the care etc and actually seem to love the idea that they have another baby in the family. Maybe because their own child-rearing days are over but the boundaries all seem blurred to me. Goodness knows how the child tells his mother from his grandmother.

I'll probably get slated for this but I also think the parents should be made to provide for the pregnant girl and their offspring. I don't think they should get benefits at all. There are loads of girls out there who think they've hit the jackpot when they find they're pregnant. Excuse to leave school, plenty of daytime telly, designer buggies, babies to cuddle etc.

This is not directed at OP by the way.:)

There will be lots of people happy to discuss that very subject on DT, I don't think here is the place for it.
  • Thanks for all your posts, I hope it doesn't seem like I'm ignoring your posts, I'm reading them all but everytime I go to reply I can't get my posts to sound 'right' at the moment :o I appreciate all of your posts and opinions.

Do you mean you keep forgetting you haven't the foggiest idea who the father is? If so you're more laid back about the situation to be able to do that than I would be. I'd be tearing my hair out non-stop and my imagination would be permanently in overdrive.

No, I meant I keep forgetting it's been less than a week ago she told me. It seems much longer than that, each day seems so long right now. :(

I don't forget that I don't know who the father is at all. It's constantly there, going through all of the situations that could have happened. I can't force her to talk. I'm sure she will in time, but until she does, of course I'm finding it really hard. I don't know what's happened and that is hard to cope with.

No it isn't usually followed up.
You are the one who seems confused. Between people who willingly have sex with someone their own age and people who obviously take advantage. There is a massive difference. If you cannot see that, then I worry about you.

And when they are both under 16??

Poppyfield I find it rude that you take the time to post and yet other "contributors" to this thread chose to ignore you and continue with their own debate.

I like many others are wishing you well, following this thread and perhaps using it as a starting point for difficult conversations with our own children.

Only you know how best to handle your own daughter to get the information, and impart information to her so she can make an informed decision.

Good luck for the weekend when your ex arrives. x

....there is no proof it was 'unplanned'..

Very good point there pigpen, I hadn't even considered that. It woud fit in with having made plans as to how to hide her pregnancy. It would also explain the lack of a boyfriend and the reluctance to talk about the father?
  • No it definitely wasn't planned, I did think of that too.
