  • just transferred a balance to my Natwest card, they gave me 1.9% for 6 months with a 2% charge. The guy said that it will be 79p a month for every £500, so that would be £1.58 for £1000. So I transferred £1400, interest will be £2 something a month and the fee is £28.

Is this a good deal?

APR about 6% , so not bad - about as good as you'll get from RBS / Natwest group.

Just transferred 1250 to Halifax one on a 6.95% LOB

It beats the current 19.9% the money was costing me on another card - shame they wouldn't increase the limit though (card has been unused since November.) there's a lot more where that come from.
  • I have a Barclaycard visa and Mastercard and they are both up to their limit. I am paying 21.9% on both cards but my credit rating will not be so good though as I have missed payments and I have gone over my limit. If I tell them I am going to tranfer the amounts to another card iwth a a lower rate will there be a chance of a getting a lower rate or are they more likely to be glad to get rid of me?

I was wondering if I tell them I am going to transfer to another card with a lower rate will they give me a better rate?

I have been refused by other card companies though because I do not live in U.K

BARLCAYCARD 0% offer - has anyone else found the sting!
I have been sorting out a lot of paperwork and just filed all my credit card statements going bank to 03 (long time overdue) The barclaycard offer was 0% for lifetime of transfer BUT you had to spend on it each month so I set up a DD to a charity for £2 per month. I have discovered that my payments each month are all going on the transfer and not the monthly spend.. they say its in the Terms & Conditions allocation of transfer first and there is nothing I can do about this .. I will investigate my terms & conditions but in the meantime the interest on the standard balance is now 1.96 per month and increasing month on month !!

Unfortunately that was the terms of the LOB offer and afaik the way most BTs work. The payments go to pay off the BT first, so any spend is attracts interest at the full rate. You still have had a pretty good deal, BUT should have made the DD for £1 not 2.

under £2/ month interest 3 or 4 years after they lent you thousands  you seem to want blood. I bet you still owe them a thousand +, so £24 interest is still less than 2.4 %, it is for you to work out when to cut and run.

I transferred a balance to a Disney Chase card - 0% for a year. I called and threatened to transfer again. They offered me around 1.75% for another year. I've read that it can be detrimental to your credit to continue to transfer and open up new accounts so I think I'll stay with them. Good sticky!

I did something like this as well. But managed to get 1% for the extra year. I've also hears that opening new accounts just for the low yield-apr's can be bad for your credit...but it feels so good! =D

Just been sent some cheques from Barclaycard, along with a letter from Barclaycard informing me of an increase in credit limit and 2 offers of either 0% on purchases until January 08 or 0% on balance transfers or cheques until July 08 with a 3% fee. Have had the card for around 4 years.
