Unoffical Existing Customer Balance Transfers

As pointed out by posters. Threatened to close my Lloyds card got
5.9% for Life with balance transfer fee
1.9% for 9 Months with Fee
0% for six months, no fee. I took this one.
Plus, I transferred from Capital One. I still have about 8 No Fee Cheques from Capital One from about three years ago, so I xferred £15000 from a clear Capital One card and paid a cheque in to my offset account for no fee.
Thanks Lloyds.:T0 -
Hi, I've called Barclaycard a couple of times and they say they can't offer me any BT offers. It's strange because my credit is pretty good (only problem is lots of cards with lots of revolving balances, but all cleanly managed). I've been spending a few hundred each month on my card, so I don't think I should be flagged for not using my card. I've been a Barclaycard customer for at least a couple of years. Can anyone give me advice on why Barclaycard isn't offering me anything, or what I can do to get an offer, other than just continuing to call them each month?
We have got a poor credit rating due to my husband losing his job and not being able to make minmum repayments last year. However, today I have decided to try to reduce any debts that we have.
I called Barclaycard to see if we could BT at a cheaper rate, they wouldnt increase our limit and we only have a few hundred spare, so I felt a bit disappointed.
I then asked if there was anything that they could do to reduce the interest rate, we were on 19%!!! The lady put me on hold and spoke to customer retention, and told them that I was going to close my account unless they reduced the interest.
They have just reduced it to 6.9% for life.
I was really shocked! My cash % is still high, but I am now going to use this tactic on my other cards and look into moving Barclaycard across to another card and then back to try to get 6.9% for the total sum.
Feel a bit inspired now!!:T
P.S. This is my first posting so sorry if it isnt in the normal format!!!0 -
you can also phone up your bank and ask for a reduced apr mine went from 19.9 to 11.9% think they wanted to keep me had the card since 1999!
Have just started to look into this. We have a £2000 od with RBS and are being charged 29.8%, we have had the account since 1997, do you think there is much chance of them reducing it if we ask. Which bank are you with??0 -

My Barclaycard deal is as follows and you too can get the same deal...
The minimum spend for a Platinum Barclaycard is 1p per month including 0% on balance transfers. It also costs nothing to transfer the balance onto the Barclaycard! ;D
Anyway - great site and keep bringing on those money-saving tips! ::)
Yes I like using smileys :-[

Just wanted to let everyone know what a result I had yesterday. I have a Virgin money card for which the 0% rate ended 2 months ago. I also have a Lloyds TSB card which is 0% for a year. I wanted to stick my £4000 overdraft onto the 0% Lloyds card but it won't allow me to do it, I can only use the Virgin card for BT'ing my overdraft. So I thought I would sort of 'leapfrog' the overdraft over to the Lloyds using my Virgin card. Anyway to cut a long story short, phoned up Virgin to do the BT last night. The lady did it for me and then said "right that's done at a rate of 17.9%." I said ok because I was going to BT is to my Lloyds card anyway. But then she said, "do you want me to see if I can get you a better rate" I said "ok" just to see what I could get, well, she then said "2.7% for 6 months" I said "yeah ok!" and even though I agreed to this she then said "wait a minute, I can do 0% for 6 months"!!!!!!!! so I took it! I didn't even have to haggle/threaten to close the account - nothing!!0

Don't bother with M&S balance transfer. They have just stopped giving 6 months 0% on balance transfers for existing customers. Either the credit squeeze has hit or I p---'d them off by settling in full after my last transfer ended!;)0

Hey guys Virgin has gone back to the old days, a colleague got this offer without any haggling-- 0% for 9 months with a Capped BT fee....£50 capped Fee. He got 95% of his credit limit over 30000 at a measly fee. hope the good old days are back I need to churn my BT in Feb!!:beer::beer:0

My Virgin MBNA 0% BT offer is about to end, with £4000 i need to switch as the rate goes up to a massive 20.4%! I rang them to ask what date it ended and about interest rates etc but they didn't offer me any extension or another deal.
I got a new Barclaycard with 0% BT for 14 months (2.5% transfer fee) with a credit limit of £2000.
Declined by Tesco, Capital One, Sainsburys, and RBS despite the fact I have an excellent credit record (I checked it last month).Think my card-tarting and too many applications has messed it up?!
Have had my Halifax One card (which i use for spending) for around two years. Rang them up and customer retentions offered me 5.4% for life of the balance transfer or 6 months 0% with a 3% transfer fee. They also offered to drop my purchases rate to 14.5%.Proud to be dealing with my debts!
egg loan [strike]£10300[/strike] £2400
student loan [strike]£4500[/strike] ZERO!!!
