Unoffical Existing Customer Balance Transfers

Can anyone help me out with this? I have a Halifax One card with a limit of £8000 that I originally got because of a good 0% deal. I'm currently using it as a spending card, paying off the balance every month.
However, I've just had an offer through the post of 5.9% LOB with a 3% fee, which looks reasonable to me, if not spectacular. The trouble is, as I'm part way through the month, I have a grand or so's worth of spending on the card.
Can I transfer the current balance out onto another card temporarily, then transfer it back under the conditions of the LOB deal? (I have a balance of about 2K on another card that I need to transfer as well).
Or should I look for a better deal altogether??£2 coin savers club: £1.49

Hello JollyNolly,
Yes to your question. I have personally done this about 4 months ago with one of my MBNA cards. I balance transfered for that same reason, just to get the new deal which MBNA are good for.
I would maybe ask a few more people though because it might just be MBNA that allow you to do it.
Hope it all works out for you.

Just taken out a new Abbey Credit card with 0% offer and no balance transfer fee (this was a targeted offer). But they are also offering 5% cashback on supermarket shopping.
I should know the answer but can anyone confirm, having done the balance transfer I seem to recall that I should not use the card for purchases.
Is that correct?0 -

First Direct Current Offer for "Brand New Customers Only":
http://www.firstdirect.com/creditcards/gold_card.shtml

0% on transfers for 12 mths; 4.9% on balance transfers for 5 (five) years, £100 min trans with 2.5% trans fee; spend £800 in first 2 mths and get 8 bottles of wine.
Do you read this as transfer £100 for 12 mths and pay £7.50 (int+trans fee) and spend up to credit limit for settlement at 12 mths?

Edit: If that's the way you all read it I will probably press to test for existing customers.0 -
