But you could do a balance transfer from your credit card into your current account and then buy the premium bonds.

Amex offer 4.9%, although I don't know if this is fee free. Yes it is a decent deal but I have no debts to transfer except my stoozing ones, and I wouldn't be able to profit off that offer.
Anyway I think this is available to all existing customers if anyone is interested.2014 running challenge 587.4 miles / 250 miles0 -

It incurs the usual 2% max £50, and is sometimes offered to existing Axex customers with a time limit to apply, and sometimes for 6months not life. Outside that it is usually refused.ac's lovechild0 -
Cancelled my Mint card the other day, they said "OK sir it has now been closed". Was hoping an offer to tempt me to stay with them.
Ah well, I'll re-apply in 8(!) months time.0 -
There was a 2% fee for cash transfers, capped at £50. I rarely use the card, as it has no points or cashback, but they keep offering ever lower balance transfer rates. I keep it, as a short-term loan at 5% is sometimes useful. I have ignored these offers for a while, and each time, they come back to me after a few months with a lower one (previously they were offering 0.9% for 6 months, so I nearly stoozed with that).
As they are so pushy, they have given me the largest credit limit I have on any card. I could transfer 95% of my available limit as cash. I gave into temptation and am stoozing it away. The cash hit my current a/c today. Even wih the £50 fee, I should get a few hundred in interest.
Oddly, Natwest would only let me transfer a max of £10K via online banking in a single day - not something I've ever had a problem beforebut could be an issue with making a high value purchase.

Also,
Had the card for about six years. They may still think I am the footloose and fancy free IT freelancer with a high disposable income I was when I took the card out (initially for the 0% balance transfer funnily enough)0 -
Just received a letter from M & S money enclosing convenience cheques that can be used for anything, including transferring money into my bank account, up to the total of my credit limit at a rate of 3.9% for the lifetime of the balance. The offer is available for me to use up to 31 Mar 2007.
