Amex have written to me offering 5.9% LOB on my Platinum card - think there are better offers to be had though.0

M & S offered me 3.9% for life of the balance. But I stuck it on to the Egg existing customer aniversary deal instead. I hope they offer it to me again in 5 months, but then MBNA usually give me a 1.9% deal after each transfer.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

Any one had a better BT offer from Lombard Direct? I asked them yesterday and the best they could do was 14.9% !!!!!0

Does anyone know if Halifax One offer any good deals before I ring them. I've got one of the original cards with 9.9% APR. Thanks.0

MBNA just offered 2.9% until July. I hummed and hawed and bloke asked how much I was thinking of transferring and what rate it was on now, after hearing it was on 0% he then offered 1.9% which I was happy with until I read the above posters had been offered 0.9%.
1st moral of story, maybe it's best to always say you're coming to the end of a 0% offer whether you actually are or not?
2nd moral....always check here first to see what others are being offered.
As for Halifax One, I rang them this morning too and said I needed a good rate to transfer to and their rate wasn't very competitive anymore (9.9%). Got nothing so closed the account there and then.Herman - MP for all!0 -
For what it's worth a couple of (mostly negative) existing customer balance transfer offer updates:
1) Had Nationwide CC with 0% for 6 months, credit limit 3K, due to run out in February. Rang them today to ask about any offers when this runs out, as have about 2K outstanding. There were "no offers available" and the rate on offer is 14.9%!
When I pointed out that this was much higher than I could get elsewhere, the chap on the other end said that (as suggested from Martin's list) there were no offers for existing customers but he thought Nationwide were going to introduce such offers "in a couple of months' time".
2) Virgin (had card since January 2005, had 9 months at 0%, credit limit 10K, balance currently nil) offered me 7.9% until July with a 2% fee, max £35.
3) Mint (had card since November 2004, credit limit 7K, balance currently nil) offered 13.9& and wouldn't budge on this.0 -
I've had HSBC credit card for about 25 years which has a 10k limit on it and was used for all of my shopping until I discovered this site in September. I've used a Conran cashback card since, but encouraged by some of the offers above and with the current 9 month 0% BT offer for new card holders I thought I'd give them a ring. They offered 5% for 6 months and wouldn't budge an inch.0

Rang Egg regarding 2K I want to balance transfer. I've had an Egg Card since August 2000, credit limit £6500, current balance nil. They offered me 3.9% for 6 months (plus 2% fee) on my original (green) Egg Card.
I tried to haggle by saying that this was not as good as I had been offered elsewhere. The response was "We don't price match." When I asked if this was company policy, he said that "there's been this Martin Lewis bloke on Radio 2 suggesting that people do as you are doing - ringing round and trying to get better deals - but it isn't our policy." Amusingly he claimed that he had an email from his management mentioning this, and although he tried, he said he couldn't find it to quote to me. Made me smile anyway, sounds like they are at least a bit rattled!0 -
I rang M&S earlier this week after receiving a letter about special BT offers.
0% 6 months with no BT fee but may be withdrawn shortly per customer service person I spoke to.0 -
Thought I would join in the 0% credit card for balance transfers, not that I have much to transfer so I applied for a Lloyds TSB platinum card. Oh My God! Got turned down with a long waffly letter about my credit score!! Here I am an ex-career civil servant with only a small mortgage and a car loan with a decent pension and no other debts.............I feel like a leper! Any other lepers out there and how did you deal with rejection? It's never happened to me before.0
