had a good session last week, the first week of the plan (walk 2 mins/run 2 mins) is just about within my fitness range.

June, and the prospect of running 5k flat out, seems a very, VERY long way away  :D but im enjoying myself which helps.

today i bought shorts, because its too hot for running in tracky bottoms at the gym. we go to a very well equipped gym with a tv/audio system, so yesterday i worked out whilst watching kavanagh QC :rotfl: its a dog's life :D

    Keep the training up girls:T

Hi! DD, some friends and I will be running in York in June. Last 3 years did it in below 40mins, so hoping to repeat that.

bit of a personal question, but how fit are you ;):p ? is this a realistic time for someone who has never run properly before?

does anyone know how long the course takes to walk, on average?

had another good run last night, didnt ache at all today, even though i pushed myself that little bit further than i had done before. we are both noticing that whilst it is far from easy it is getting easier. hows everyone else coming on?

i hope to do the 3 miles in and around 35mins! im building up my running on the treadmill day by day, week by week and it is so much easier than when i first started!
when i first started to go to the gym, i could only run for about a minute, but now im up to about 5 mins running and then walking for another 20mins!
this is such a good way to get fit!

whoops ! what Have I done ? In a moment of madness,(helped along by several glasses of Chardonnay) I decided to sign up for the race for life. The only intsy little problem is, as a teenager (20 and a bit years ago) I was given the advice "never run after a man or a bus, because one comes along every 20 Min's." Although I may admit to having chased a few boys, I haven't so much as walked quickly for a bus since 3rd year senior school ( I got an A in managing to avoid PE at school)

Well now I've signed up and told everybody that I'm doing the race for life,so there's no backing out of it now !

OK, so I've now been out, bought the gear, and down loaded "from couch to 5 K in 9 weeks " on to my ipod.

The recipe for disaster went something like this :

Take one slighty wobbly, and very unfit 39 year old

Mix with one pair of trainers

    Add a sports bra

Put Out fag ( I'm giving up again)

Next place all the above on pavement(pref after dark,if you dont want to scare the neighbors)

    leave to simmer nicely,for approx 25 Min's

result, one red faced, puffing and panting female with mascara and foundation dripping off her nose.

    I knew I was unfit,but just didn't quite realize how unfit I was, !

Thing can only get better, session two tomorrow.wish me luck ,'cos I really will need it !

I'm taking part for my third year. Having real trouble finding sponsorships. Hoping my friends, family and colleagues will be more generous nearer the time

Using my kick boxing as stamina training.

It's so much fun, I love this event. I normally do it alone as no one will do it with me, so if anyone's doing the Eastbourne one on June 10th at 11am, let me know if you want to meet up at the event, and support each other

    Good luck everyone

aww scuzz if only i was nearer i would join you :grouphug:

have you thought about placing an appeal in your local rag? there could be some woman out there wishing she had a partner to train and take part with. you'd be raising awareness of the event, and may even get a bit of sponsorship too :j
