You should have sympathy for telesales reps. If you don't want the call, simply tell the caller to remove you from the database or join TPS.
Sympathy!? Why dont they first ASK me if I mind being put onto their database, that way I dont have to go through the trouble of having to remove myself from it. As for TPS, I am with TPS, but that doesnt stop their "courtious" calls. Nil sympathy from me, If they dont like my attitude when they call me, I suggest they dont.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

CFC, There are plenty of unscrupulous companies that just use a telephone directory to make calls or they just phone random numbers whether on the TPS list or not. Even if a TPS subscribing company calls there is no guarantee that you will be removed. I've asked politely to be removed and it seems to be standard practice for the disgruntled sales rep to ignore this and just get on with the next call. The man without a signature.0 -
I used to work at Jigsaw....did you know that this company actually stores peoples bank account details and use these details for different products in different departments. DATA PROTECTION ACT???? HELLO? all these people are bothered about is money money money and call call call. They dont car who they get to work there as long as long as all the seats are full. And as for people that complain to this company, the management just sit and laugh about it. Every single person in Nottingham has worked for this company and other big companies laugh and know how bad they actually are and quality of looking after staff ect. They pride theirselves on 'quality' but its a joke. I think they got it mixed up with QUANTITY lol!!! The data they use gets used over and over again and they dont care if they annoy people. They also call people on the TPS even though they are registered as having a TPS license. The whole company is just a joke and any new female that starts work there gets perved on.. Jigsaw have annoyed hundreds of people in the past so i guess what goes around comes around and I hope Jigsaw get theirs....0

Ive noticed a trend lately that callers think they dont have to bother with the TPS list because they arent selling anything, which of course is rubbish.
I listen to their speil, tell them this number is on the TPS register only to be told its okay because they arent selling, its a courtesy, promotional, customer service call !
I ask their company, their name and then inform them that I'll be reporting the call.Smile. Its the second best thing you can do with your lips....0 -
I don't know what people think of this idea?
When we register with TPS we usually register under:
"residential". (default)
But would it be better to register our phone number under:
"Limited company: (Including organisations such as Hospitals, Schools, Government Departments and other Corporate subscribers)"
http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/ctps/number_type.html
I personally believe it would offer better protection. I can't see the telemarketing cold/silent callers being allowed to annoy that group!0 -
ok first of all cfc - you said:
where companies get the contact from is from the person being contacted!
erm no they dont. and i'll explain why in a minute.
google1:
we also work along the guidelines of the tps service and when we recieve data it may be that when the data is sent to us customers have not registered with the tps at that point and by the time we contact a customer the tps is activated so therefore when I make a call to a customer who is on the tps, as a sales advisor if i am informed by the customer that they are now with the tps I cannot continue with the call and it is reported and taken of our system
And what a lot of people dont realise is you hand your info out on a plate basically to whom you
consider trust worthy who then pass on your info for example if you have a catalogue or look online
for loans or home insurance and fill in details people tend to forget to tick the little box and your info
gets passed on to third parties.
first i would like to point out that i registered with the TPS a year and a half ago. 2nd of all i would like to make clear that the number i receive the calls from jigsaw on is a number i ONLY give to FRIENDS and FAMILY!!!!! I have another number i use when signing up to anything. So how did they get my number? And yes i realise you possibly are one of the polite few google1 who really does feel sorry for disturbing people as they're just sitting down for their dinner or just getting ready to jump in the bath but that still doesnt excuse the fact that i dont want these calls and never asked for them. It would be better if there was a opt in service, people who are too busy to shop would know this themselves and therefore maybe you're convertion rates would be 1 in 2 instead of 1 in 30.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
If you have problems with telesales people, heres a great thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....html?t=405926
I have had hysterics reading this and plan to use them on the next anoying person who rings my ex directory, TPS registered number.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
I have just search and got this info on the number, who just called me. Whweh I picked up I heard the ring tone, apparently dialling out. I'm on NTL and am wondering how to stop this?
Jigsaw Insurance Marketing
I've had a couple of silent phone calls from 01158507616. It seems that Jigsaw Insurance Marketing (UK) Ltd of 3rd floor, 16, King St, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire NG1 2AS are notorious nuisance callers. I've fed them to Ofcom's web-based silent call complaints system and with any luck, the next time I hear about them will be when they are fined. (I don't hear about them when they call. It's just silent.) Have sent the above to OFCOM
