Silent Call/Nuisance Call 01158507616

Does anyone know who operates this number?

Ive been getting tortured with calls from it during the day for the past month.
I answer and the line just goes dead. When i try to call back its engaged.

I work nights aswell so its woken me up on more than enough occasions now to really hack me off.

    Hi Marty,

Couldn't find the number on google but you should contact BT's nuisance call department so they can put a bar on the number.

From BT's website: "If you are receiving persistent nuisance calls, please contact our specialist advisors at the Malicious Calls Bureau on 0800 661 441 (24hrs, 7 days a week) who will be pleased to offer you their assistance."

    Also see: https://www.bt.com/customerservices/downloads/malicious_calls.pdf

    Hope this helps.
  • Thanks for the info.

Im on NTL though so I will check it out with them.

It's a nottingham number. I have been having some trouble with notingham numbers as well.
I blocked one and started getting it from a new number.

Oops, I'm living in the "old days" ... I always assume everyone's with BT - sorry.

We had the same problem a couple of years ago (although number was witheld) and I can remember only too well how annoying (and sometimes frightening) it was. We spoke to BT CS and they told us it was probably a some sort of automated call service, whereby computers at a cold calling company dial several numbers simultaneously and then the operator just answers the first person to pick up, leaving the rest to get a silent call! They then retry in the next batch every few days.

BT advised us to put a bar on all cold calling/automated dialling companies (can't remember exactly how you do it but it's a bit like the one for mails where you can state you don't want to receive advertising). We took their advice and have never been troubled again! Ask your phone provider if they do it, if not it might still be worth asking BT just in case the no advertising thingy works through them!

  • Ive registered with TPS ages ago aswell and to be fair, its cut down most of it but recently this number is constantly dialling us.
  • http://www.mobiledjforums.com/lofiversion/index.php/t11928.html that number gets an honourable mention on this forum.

It's a company called Jigsaw Promotions or something similar. I have also had the calls from that number and also 0115 850 7600.
  • Thanks for the info below - do you know whether this service is available to people receiving the call to their mobile.....cos I am :( I've read the doc below, but it isn't clear if it's for landline use only.

Register with tps for silent calls-you need to register seperately for this ie you may be registered for sales calls only.
