Yes I do agree in some respect that if you want something you go out and get it yourself
if I was to call you and you were not intrested i would end the call and apoligise for bothering you
but there are people out there who are to busy to shop around and appriciate the call otherwise if no
one did accept an offer or a product then all call centre would be closed due to lackof buisness but
they are thriving and unfortunatly to some peoples annoyance.
And what a lot of people dont realise is you hand your info out on a plate basically to whom you
consider trust worthy who then pass on your info for example if you have a catalogue or look online
for loans or home insurance and fill in details people tend to forget to tick the little box and your info
gets passed on to third parties.
The blame can be passed round in circles all the time, yourself for not ticking the
box the companies for passing on information and call centre for calling.
And as for silenced or nuisence calls on tps service or not I agree it should be stopped
I have the tps service myself but as it quotes on its website it STOPS all sales calls including ones
that maybe be useful if you use it, the reason for myself having the tps was becuase of indian call
centres calling that i know are not all above board but now i dont get any at all and maybe missing out on
a genuine offer or product but I am a sod for bargins lol. But i do promises that i will report the complaint
at work and let you know the result0 -

Unfortunately, not all telesales reps are that polite, and that is part of the issue I have with them. I imagine many are under all sorts of pressures to meet targets and get sales, but there is nothing like a rude person ringing me up, or hanging up on me, before I've managed to say that I'm not interested thanks, to get my back up, especially when I have just rushed off the toilet to answer it.
Personally I think the cold calling telesales and door to door sales industry exploit the saleperson as much as the customer, and if you can find any other job that would be suitable, it may prove better for you in the long term.
Maybe when I'm a lonely old age pensioner, living on my own, I'll change my mind and look forward to the calls and junk mail, but I'm not quite there yet.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
sorry for typing error i was just trying to help even though you obivously hate me just because of my job i was offering to help by passing on your concerns0

I don't think anyone here hates you. I for one am grateful that you came on here and gave us useful info about Jigsaw. Have you met Kate Middleton? (only joking)
I sympathise with you because I know what it's like to have difficult targets to meet. I guess it isn't you who decides how these calls should be made.0 -

I started a job at a Mortgage company and their "system" was going through the phonebook. Absolutely hated the job - my first shift was also my last.
I think the poster who works at Jigsaw was very brave to post on this thread! And it was nice to offer to pass on the complaints to her MD.0 -
My heart bleeds for telesales people
Yes we have signed up to have our number registered for sales calls, or rather we have been deliberately deceived.
Sales companies know if they drew our attention to the small print we would opt out and of course they wouldnt want that ! Because they dont care how many people they upset, worry, or harass in the pursuit of making one sale!
How would you telesales people whining 'your only earning a living' like me to phone you everytime I list something on ebay ? just to see if your interested in it - i mean i'm only trying to get some money to feed my family !
Dont you want to save money ?
To me the most insulting thing is that the whole method shows the seller has a total lack of respect for their potential buyer.
It is irrelevant to the selling company (as policy)wether the sales call is wanted, or convenient and they actually abuse basic social courtesy.
Most decent human beings out of politeness will not generally tell a cold caller to 'ef off' but will endeavour to politely say 'no thankyou'. Which is cynically used as a chance for their sales pitch.
As a result I would suggest a whole new phone etiquette is evolving to awnser the telephone. Where a four letter slang word for fornication followed by 'off' replaces the basic 'hello'.
The telesales contribution to communication skills!0 -
I'm being plagued by a nottingham number as well
01158 444888
Can't find anythiing on google
they ring every day and hang up when I answer  I am registered with the TPS and always opt out of marketing (If I get the option to do so  )
I wish they'd leave me alone - I don't even get the chance to tell them to stop phoning me as they hang up everytime I answer!!! :mad:0 -
The TPS won't stop silent calls- you need to register yourself on the Silent Call Guard service- this stops the automated calls like these. You can phone them here:- 0870 4443969

I received a call the other day which was clearly a sales call. I asked the operator whether they were trying to sell me something, they said no, so I listened for another couple of seconds. When it became apparent that they were indeed trying to sell something I questioned them again and was told
'It's not a sales call, more of a helping call really'
Really??? As I tried to ask advice on how to remove asbestos from my shed, and then onj how to get the smell of cat wee out of a plant (don't ask - filthy little feline!) it became apparent that 'helping' is a term which can only be used to describe selling phone products, not to offering practical advice about domestic issues!0
