Yodel delivery services - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Ordered a new phone from CPW on Friday and they unfortunately use Yodel as a courier. Next day delivery (even allowing for Easter non-delivery) has turned into almost a week with no sign of my phone and no tracking information on the website. CPW cant even get a straight answer from them (unless they are fobbing me off too). Shower of incompetent idiots!
Well, actually it hasn't, has it. When you wrote your post, it was only two working days. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Yodel are shockingly poor. I have had 3 bad experiences with them in quick succession.
1) Amazon return - They failed to turn up to collect the items which I was returning to Amazon for a refund
2) Very.co.uk return - They turned up but failed to read the additional instructions with the booking instructing the driver to collect the parcel from the back porch. They left a calling card saying nobody was in to collect the item and to rearrange collection.
3) Homebase delivery - I waited between the hours of 8am and 8pm yesturday on the arranged delivery date for my items. Nobody came. Received a calling card TODAY saying I wasn't in and to rearrange delivery.
Totally shocking service and they must offer really cheap deals to businesses to get awarded the contracts. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!
2) Did Very relay the information to the courier?
3) What service did Homebase pay Yodel for?
If everybody avoided Yodel, how would they get their goods delivered to them? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Then your partner should know that, if the manifest says that only the recipient can sign, then only the recipient can sign
Yodel delivery slips only give the option of delivery to an address (and not a specific person).
If there is no one at that address when delivery is attempted then they can opt to leave the package with a neighbour unless the sender has specified that this shouldn't happen. If everybody avoided Yodel, how would they get their goods delivered to them?
I know that people tend to write more about bad customer service than good experiences, but still, going by the amount of complaints about Yodel on this board and on many other websites and consumer rights programs on the TV, I don't know how anyone can honestly think that all the complaints are down to either the people sending the packages or the people receiving them.0 -
i would just like to report the abduction by aliens of a yodel delivery van and driver, i ordered a phone from o2 and yodel very kindly sent me a text on tuesday stating that my order was out for delivery , come 5pm there's still no sign of it so i use the tracking facility and find it's still out for delivery .
it's now friday and there's still no sign of the arrival of my parcel , have tried to phone but getting in touch with yodel customer services is on par with making contact with alien life form , ie unlikely . i've even contacted o2 who have not been able to get thru to their c/s .
the only conclusion i can come to is the driver must have been abducted by aliens .
either that , or they couldn't be bothered to deliver the parcel on tuesday and it has been returned to the depths of their sorting depo , probably never to be seen again :mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -
According to Amazon, Yodel were swamped with stuff over Easter and a lot of it's still sitting in warehouses undelivered.
Complain to Amazon, or to any other retailer that uses this useless shower of sh**. Enough complaints, enough hassle for retailers, enough hacked off customers who just might buy elsewhere and retailers will maybe start to realise that it's a false economy using Yodel if it just means lost and/or unhappy customers.0 -
I had good service from Yodel -goods ordered from Dabs.com -delivery was quick and delivered within 24hrs. No complaints so it's a matter of personal experience. Yet when a parcel sent from Wales to us by our daughter was returned to her by Royal Mail they claimed to have called twice and left a card each time. When told we had not received a card they said "have they got a dog? -yes -well the dog must have eaten it" The only fault with that theory is that post goes into the porch and the dog hasn't worked out how to unlock the deadlocked door to get into the porch. So the Royal Mail van driver just couldn't be bothered is a much more likely reason for non-delivery. Retired we are home all day and not hard of hearing so those excuses will not wash either.0

Not if they are using their machines it doesn't. I have had several deliveries from Yodel, where only the recipient can sign on their portable terminals.Probably the way deliveries were made before Yodel came into the market (ie, with a reasonably reliable courier).
But you won't have the choice if your supplier has an arrangement with one specific carrier.I know that people tend to write more about bad customer service than good experiences, but still, going by the amount of complaints about Yodel on this board and on many other websites and consumer rights programs on the TV, I don't know how anyone can honestly think that all the complaints are down to either the people sending the packages or the people receiving them.
These companies carry millions upon millions of packages every year. The number of complaints on this forum don't even equate to 0.0001% of those. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

But who else can they use?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

There's no reason why they shouldn't be able to cope with the shared additional traffic. Yodel would also 'benefit' from the reduced traffic.0 -
Any of the other carriers they currently use. I much prefer DPD because you get a 1 hour time slot, but they're all better than Yodel.
But that costs more. There's no reason why they shouldn't be able to cope with the shared additional traffic. Yodel would also 'benefit' from the reduced traffic.
And just how would that work? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
