So, when Royal Mail break something, what you will get as compensation?

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm still waiting for a parcel from American Soda from last week. Allegedly attempted to deliver on 30/11 (strike day so I was in with littlie), left a card (nope) It was then sent up to Hatfield and since 1/12 has been sat at Coventry depot.

Another Amazon order from Black Friday delivered today by a stranger who lives around the corner. His house is a number 11 as well- maybe Yodel should ensure that their couriers can read words (street names) as well as numbers??

  • I was quite happy with my deliveries VIA yodel until they tried to deliver yesterday when I was out. They dropped the parcel over my back fence, its a seven foot high fence. £300 of presents damaged.

I purchased alot of money worth of equipment from MILLETS and was expecting my delivery, but it didnt come.

i was notified by email " parcel out for delivery in my city "

Items went out then the tracker reported that my house couldnt be located and they returned to the depot ( at 1pm !! in the afternoon )

yes in Aberdeen service centre, they work half days!!

I called Yodel 3 days running, nothing was done - the aberdeen service centre could not be contacted.

WHY WHY WHY can yodel call centres not call DRIVERS ? I dont understand.

With all this technology and GPS systems they still cant located my address..which is on the street i named and have a big NUMBER on the damn door.

Any monkey with a phone can use google maps and find my damn house...so why did YODEL find it impossible to find my location and coordinate their efforts with that of the call centres to get my parcels to me ?

This level of incompetence is unforgivable.. WELCOME TO GREAT BRITAIN... its like this everywhere!!!

from now on I will not BUY any ITEMS online if a company uses YODEL... i REFUSE..even if i have to pay extra to another seller..i will do so rather that trust YODEL again

There level of incompetence reminds why i have such hate for the UK, i have problems 9/10 times when i make a call to a company, order things online, ask for some duty/ service to be carried out in the private and most definetly the PUBLIC sector.

I do not believe these mistakes are caused genuinely..i have now come to believe that MAKING MISTAKES is BIG MONEY for companies.. no one ever thinks of this issue.

WAISTING YOUR TIME and creating problems where there is none is GOOD for the economy..isnt it ?

Because, it would be illegal for the driver to use a hand held mobile phone when driving. The company could be liable if they call him and he has an accident. If the driver is self-employed, there is no requirement for him to have a mobile phone, or even that it should be hands free.

There could be a great many reasons why the driver cannot locate you. It could be on a street where the numbers are erratic. Although you may consider your number to be conspicuous, it might not be to someone else. If your house has a name, as well as a number, you have to absolutely certain that you have included all the information necessary to locate your house.

But, it is most probable that Millets have taken your address down incorrectly. What have Millets said about this?

i live a mere 3 miles from my local yodel depot. i had a router, xbox live card, and xbox live points come from O2. delivered by........yodel.
i got the tracking number and a delivery date. come the delivery date, no delivery. tracked on the website and it said returned to sender. when i called yodel, i got the bullsh!t excuse we couldnt find your address. the woman was shocked when i told her i am 3 miles down A STRAIGHT road, with sequential door numbering. so no excuse. took 3 weeks for my items to be returned to o2, and even then the xbox live was missing. And yes, i checked the delivery adress, and it was right
O2 re dispatched them, and the exact same thing happened. i left them to it, as i wasnt actually in any rush for the items at all.

I don't think it makes much of a difference if it is three miles or three hundred miles.

This is how it works. Let's use Amazon as an example.

Yodel are cheap. Very cheap. They have a huge network including many 'self employed couriers'.

A large company such as Amazon negotiate a deal with Yodel. This will be based on price first and then customer service.

Amazon are great with lost parcels and missing deliveries, they refund and replace no questions asked. This is because as part of their costing arrangement with Yodel, Yodel are allowed to simply leave the parcel outside the property. This reduces the '2nd delivery attempt' cost for the Yodel and usually the parcel is found by an honest addressee, and the ones that go missing are refunded/replaced by Amazon - the cost for this is dwarfed by the savings Yodel make and consequently this is reflected in the price of the contract arranged with Amazon. The sheer amount of instances of this happening is an overwhelming indicator - Amazon simply would not allow it to continue if this wasn't the case.

As for 'unable to locate' this is, as people suspect, a case of not enough time to deliver the package, so to avoid a penalty under the contract they list it as 'no-one in to receive -card left'. Again the volume of instances would lend weight to the argument that Amazon accept (withing a certain ratio) this as part of the costing of the service turning a blind eye as long as the parcel is out for re-delivery next day.

It is not just a simple case of !!!!!! drivers not caring, it's endemic in the way Yodel's business model is structured. This is to run at maximum capacity, all of the time.

Now all of the above does nothing except !!!! us all off but it's the way large corporations such as the monster that is Amazon work.

I continue to purchase from Amazon because every time they leave a parcel outside my front door, and some lucky !!!!er gets a free street prize, they refund or replace. It's annoying, and probably something that has helped them make a loss this last Christmas, but amazon are cheap and quick to fix when an issue arrises.

If you're using another store other than Amazon and they use Yodel then be careful, they might not be as quick to fix the issue. Yodel have one way of doing business and when this meets an online supplier not too fussed about customer service then you have problems.

Here endeth the story ... :D

There is no "second attempt" cost to Yodel. They pay the courier only when the goods are delivered and they only pay the one fee. So, the courier could end up taking three attempts to deliver and only getting paid for one attempt. This is the reason why the courier will prefer to leave the parcel in a "safe place," than to take it away and try again. The courier probably only gets paid sixty pence for the parcel. Take into account his costs (petrol, maintenance, insurance, road tax and all the pother costs associated with running a business), he is left with probably about thirty pence. If he has to take three attempts to deliver, he is getting ten pence per visit.

My personal opinion is that, if you have ordered something for delivery, you have the responsibility to either be in, or ensure you have somewhere safe to leave your parcels. It should not be up to the courier to store your goods for you until you decide to receive them.

    P.S. You/r is as in the "royal" you/r. ;)
