Yodel delivery services - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I ordered several items from a company and they sent me the tracking number for next working day delivery (yesterday). It turned out the delivery was with Yodel. I waited in all day yesterday but nobody showed up. Looked on their website and tracking says "could not locate". I then spent the best part of an hour trying to get through to their "help"line only to be told that my packages *might* be delivered on Friday, so that means waiting in all day and hoping that they turn up.
I have just looked up Yodel on Review Centre and they have 199 reviews, most of which are appalling (1 star); http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews-all-251651.html
Apparently Yodel used to be DHL/Home Delivery Network.
I am just hoping that I haven't lost my money and my packages as from the sounds of the reviews, a lot of people don't actually get their packages - they just get lost in the Yodel void.

Was this Carphone Warehouse?
If so, 'could not locate' means that Carphone Warehouse haven't actually despatched the order.
The tracking number is issued BEFORE the goods are collected by Yodel.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

No, it wasn't Carphone Warehouse and the order has definitely been sent out (the original company sent me an email confirming despatch and on Yodel's website I can see that my packages were out for delivery yesterday and apparently left the depot at 9am - they just never arrived).0 -
All delivery companies lose parcels. DHL and HDNL are not the worst by a long way.
Just pray that nobody sends you anything by Hermes.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

Well, I know you're being devils advocate (or you work for Yodel lol) but I am just posting my personal experience with Yodel. If I had used Hermes and they were crap I would be posting a vent about them too.
I've not had such appalling service with any other delivery company, even Royal Mail/Parcelforce do a (much) better job.0 -
On the positive side, you won't lose out, because the supplier remains liable for the parcel until it is delivered to you.
As for working for YODEL, god no...I have a proper job!
Did anyone tell them that Yodel is slang for being sick? Marketing FAIL!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
In courier speak 'Could not locate' is usually a more acceptable (to the management) way of saying 'Couldn't be bothered', 'forgot', or 'ran out of time'. Don't bother trying to contact Yodel. As you correctly said, they are a company formed from the merger of DHL & HDNL, two of the worst customer service reputations in the business, and the new company is just as bad! Until you receive a 'You Were Out' card from Yodel, you're point of contact should be with the seller (and don't let them tell you any different).0

Problem is that you often don't know which carrier an internet site will use. So unless you faff around and ask questions then it's hard to know.
HDNL and now Yodel certainly do have a tarnished reputation as do [STRIKE]Sh1tty[/STRIKE] City LinkThe man without a signature.0 -
Looks like HDNL are now Yodel, plus also a load of confusion in that DHL sold off some of their business to Yodel.
I know all of this because I'm trying to locate a parcel that they've got despite no card through the door. DHL website knows that it's at the depot.
Waiting times on the phone are ridiculous.Happy chappy0 -
I've actually had no problems with Yodel so far and have had several deliveries over the past few weeks (including 3 over the past 2 days lol).Used to have major problems with DHL though, especially when ordering from Lush on 24 hours delivery, always took at least 5 days to arrive after going to and fro from Hams Hall!If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0

Just a guess, but if you have not given sufficient address details to your supplier, or your supplier hasn't passed them on, there is nothing the delivery company can do about it really. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
