Looks like HDNL are now Yodel, plus also a load of confusion in that DHL sold off some of their business to Yodel.

I know all of this because I'm trying to locate a parcel that they've got despite no card through the door. DHL website knows that it's at the depot.

Waiting times on the phone are ridiculous.

kind of... yodel are HDNL but they're moving clients over to DHL which are also Yodel.. So at the end of it, Yodel will just be DHL but i've no idea what'll happen to HDNL

In courier speak 'Could not locate' is usually a more acceptable (to the management) way of saying 'Couldn't be bothered', 'forgot', or 'ran out of time'. Don't bother trying to contact Yodel. As you correctly said, they are a company formed from the merger of DHL & HDNL, two of the worst customer service reputations in the business, and the new company is just as bad! Until you receive a 'You Were Out' card from Yodel, you're point of contact should be with the seller (and don't let them tell you any different).

Or it could be that the courier spent a half an hour looking for a house where the owners can't be bothered to put the name or number on the outside. Or they were looking for a road called Acacia Avenue, when the actual address is Acacia Road, or number 31 where the actual number is 13, or looking for Home Farm Cottage and the real address is Homestead House.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

I know someone who is a delivery driver and he says the absolute pits is when a customer uses a house name instead of the house number: Rose Cottage, The Street, Anytown.

Yes some houses have names only. But some people (the Hyacinth Buckets of the world) insist on using a house name when they should be using a house number. If you must use a house name then use it in conjunction with the number: Rose Cottage, 549 The Street, Anytown.

  • I too have had SO many problems with Yodel.

Had ordered stuff for Father's Day from Clinique last week, delivery was through Yodel.

I asked for delivery on Thursday 16th June to ensure it would arrive on time. My dad is flying out of the country on Sunday evening, so won't see him for several weeks after.

Thursday came, no sign of any parcel. I was a bit wary that my parcel still hadn't arrived on Friday, so called up Clinique today. They said that my parcel was with the courier, and for whatever reason, Yodel had not bothered to deliver.

I have literally spent the last few hours calling up about 15 different 0800 numbers, trying to get through to SOMEONE in this USELESS company. Unfortunately, Saturday really isn't a good day to be getting through to anyone I guess...

So thank you Yodel, now I have nothing to give to my dad for Father's Day.
(Yes I know it's not all about the presents, but I made extra effort this year and it's incredibly annoying that it seems to have gone to waste now! :( )

Have you asked your supplier why it hasn't been delivered?

  • They had no idea why it wouldn't have come on time.

Clinique were very nice about it though; I did get a refund on my delivery charge.

Yet they didn't call the courier company to find why it hadn't been delivered?

Can Clinique not give you tracking information? As soon as Yodel pick up parcels from me, the paperwork left has tracking info on it.
  • I got a "Tracking Number" which I have constantly been entering on the Yodel website to check for any change. Nothing new is coming up: the last bit of tracking information I got was that it is at the Chessington Home Branch, and that was on the afternoon of Thursday 16th June. :(

Clinique have called the courier company, yes, but they could not get through to anyone. I haven't been able to either. I guess it's because it's a Saturday..

When it gets delivered check the sent date and the tariff code. With any deliveries there's a chance that the supplier sent it out on the wrong service, so if you asked for delivery on the 16th the supplier could have done it as dispatch on the 16th on a 48 / 72 hour delivery.
