 I am confused, you seem to be complaining that you had something delivered. The card was left, I presume, because they have to leave one if you are not there to sign for your parcel.

What's there to be confused about?

The OP was expecting a package containing clothing and this was delivered and there was also a card left for an attempted Yodel delivery and this attempted delivery was not something that the OP was expecting.
I arrived home yesterday to find one clothing package I had been expecting delivered through my letter-box and a card from Yodel.
I'm not expecting any other parcel but seeing as it is the festive season, I suppose any number of friends or relatives may have sent my family a gift; i.e. I didn't choose Yodel.

It is now a little after 1pm, Saturday. I now get a male recorded voice on 0800 1577 777 informing me that they are experiencing telephony issues and long wait times but does not put me through to a call attendant service, the call drops after pre-recorded message. The message also refers to their website. Their website continues to not recognise the card ID number on their card. This card may have been left on either Wednesday or Thursday. I attempted a few times to ring them up on Friday (giving me time to read through this thread and actually post).
You're welcome to try the number as it is a free-phone number from a land-line.

At what point do I consider this poor service?

At the moment it's just service as normal for Yodel.
It won't be poor service until about Tuesday.

On checking the delivery status of my parcel it says,"at local service centre". It has been like this for the last three days. Does anyone know how long it normally takes from this point until delivery?

Also if I took some form of id, could I just turn up at the local centre and collect it?

Normally Yodel don't allow this but you may be lucky and find someone sensible working there.
I called my local depot earlier this year as a package I was expecting was shown as being there and I enquired about collecting it.
I was told that they only allow collections once a delivery had been attempted and a card left.
  • Grrr ordered a games console yesterday with Amazon's "guaranteed delivery" promise. The games console, memory card & game should all have been delivered today ... but nothing was.

For reasons known only unto Amazon, they split the order in two. The memory card should've been delivered by RM, with the rest by HDNL.

Looks like the games console was loaded onto the van first thing this morning, then spent the whole day trundling around the West of Scotland before being returned to the depot.

I know why this has happened, we live out in the sticks and it makes more sense for them to concentrate their deliveries in the urban area, it's more efficient. But it's a bleedin pain in the a$$ when you pay extra for what you think is the best delivery possible.

I hate Amazon. They've been truly awful this year. HDNL/Yodel is badly letting them down and I'm going to think twice before ever ordering from them again.
  • How does one track on Yodel's website? I get :-

Something's gone wrong and we're unable to help you.
Please return to the home page and try again or contact your parcel's sender.
  • I was expecting a tablet from carphone warehouse yesterday on next day delivery had the usual text its on van its on route then had the sorry i missed u left a card and ring to rearrange delivery, but we were in all day so rang them and he was in a pub at 5 pm and said ignore all text and online tracking the van was in for mot so all will be delivered Sunday or Monday so they really are a law to themselves I had free delivery and in no rush as its for Xmas but for everyone paying extra for delivery this really is appalling practice x
    2 week 5:2=5.5lb off.

Many Yodel drivers are self-employed, so your 'local service centre' could mean someone's garage somewhere... they'll then deliver it to you when they get round to it, possibly when they've got enough parcels for your area to make it worthwhile for them.
  • I thought that the service centres were the depots where the packages get delivered to and processed and where the delivery staff pick them up from.
