You'd be amazed, the Hermes lady must have flown to my neighbour last week because she most certainly knocked and ran, giving me no chance to answer.

I don't think your Hermes lady flew at all, that would be silly. Perhaps you didn't answer your door quickly enough. How long do you think she should have waited?

As I understand it, Amazon use these couriers about sixty per cent of the time.

But then, just because you tell your suppliers something, that is no guarantee that hey will pass that information onto the couriers. Perhaps a note on your door, informing any couriers of your wishes.

Advertising the fact you're not in and it's ok to leave the parcel in a wheelie bin/shed/garage.

I arrived home yesterday to find one clothing package I had been expecting delivered through my letter-box and a card from Yodel. The card itself only has a Card ID & Barcode with no further information written on it or filled in; i.e. no date/time when delivery was attempted (in order to ascertain whether 24 hours has elapsed for purposes of re-delivery or picking up from a depot), none of the delivery nor pick-up alternatives indicated on the form ticked, who the parcel may have been addressed to or a collection reference number [these are all fields on this form that have been left blank].
As I have been away 2 days I have no idea when either parcel arrived. I'm not expecting any other parcel but seeing as it is the festive season, I suppose any number of friends or relatives may have sent my family a gift; i.e. I didn't choose Yodel.
Using their website last night yielded no result: used their Card ID number along with my postal code. I get an "Oops! Something's gone wrong and we're unable to help you."

Tried again this morning with the same result. Tried phoning their 0800 number but after waiting 27 minutes on their line, I gave up. Still no result on the card id. Started looking at reviews and found this thread. Made a cup of coffee and rang again; as I type this, into my 18th minute.
Reading this thread is rather interesting as there is also a poster who replies to most of the complaints in an odd manner. As if the complainants are to blame or unfairly expecting a delivery company to provide a service of sorts. Sets up an Aunt Sally rebuttal to counter the complaint. Devil's Advocate? Surely not; I sense a conflict of interest.

Meanwhile, I have hung up and continue in the dark as to what I may have waiting for me. Somewhere. From someone.
Ah, I do love a mystery.

 I am confused, you seem to be complaining that you had something delivered. The card was left, I presume, because they have to leave one if you are not there to sign for your parcel.

I've used Yodel and Hermes over the last couple of months and both parcels were picked up and delivered with no problems. :)

Hi Custardly,
(1)Yes, according to their website and on screen graphics with a facsimile of the exact card left on my doorstep; it shows what to input on their website: the Card ID just above the barcode.
Url below where full-stops have been removed and replaced with spaces: (I'm a "new forum poster" and cannot provide links)
www myyodel co uk/somethings_wrong

(2) I presume you mean the other parcel I was expecting and received? No, that other parcel was delivered by Parcelpost. No such reference or barcode on that clothing parcel.
(3) Yes, of course.

Aha, yes, the infamous poster I alluded to.
I am confused, you seem to be complaining that you had something delivered.
Yessss, you often disingenuously appear to be confused, as you set up the scene for your sarcastic comment that follows.
No, I am complaining about a card left for a mysterious package I have no idea about, am not expecting and have been unable to track, as my initial post described.
The card was left, I presume, because they have to leave one if you are not there to sign for your parcel.
You presume very much, and often with contempt. Look above to your comment to the poster who complained about multiple, simultaneously door knocking, and their reply to your unhelpful comment.
But yes, one can safely assume that, if a card has been left, it is because I was not there to sign for a parcel. Yet, as described above, this card has been left blank, save for a card reference number I am unable to track on the website the card indicated I should check.
Will you argue that a blank card suffices? Sure, if the machine pre-printed reference number provided on an otherwise unfilled card led somewhere. It has not.

The other parcel was delivered by Parcelpost with the correct paperwork shown. An item of clothing I had ordered. It did not require a signature.
The card with Yodel's reference leads nowhere. Attempting to ascertain what this card refers to has been unsuccessful.

You should leave your over smug and caustic replies for more appropriate fora. These threads do not need your often snide comments which only seem to serve to boost your own ego. Why is that? What is your interest in replying to so many posts with unhelpful sneers?

Custardly above asked me a series of questions clearing up lacunas in my initial description.
That's helpful. You are not.You are more of a bully.
