Yodel delivery services - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I've had many problems with Yodel. What I don't understand is if Yodel are so bad why do retailers keep using them?
Whenever I have a delivery problem I always let the retailer know.
I like DPD - they send you a text with a 1 hour delivery slot which you can reschedule if it is not convenient. They have never let me down.
because they are cheap and work most of the time
for example, you have many people who don't check tracking and stuff simply arrives when it arrives
so a delay of 1-3 days will go unnoticed by them0 -
Awful awful awful! I had a delivery yesterday, Yodel courier banged on the door and rang the doorbell. I was upstairs but still only took a few secs to answer, by the time I got to the door he'd knocked on my 2 neighbours' doors and disturbed them, one has a new baby and the other is elderly and they'd both come to the door to answer so I then had to apologise to them. He must've literally banged on my door, rang the bell and then straight away banged on the next 2 doors to just see who answered first.
Hideous service. For my next Yodel delivery I'll have to sit by the front door to prevent the whole damn street from being disturbed.
Is this serious? You are complaining that it is a hideous service because they actually delivered?
These people just can't win!The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
My Amazon returns were finally collected, two weeks after the first request to Yodel. Eventually Amazon agreed to send City Link instead, and they arrived on the day arranged. The City Link driver said he spends most of his time collecting parcels where Yodel have failed to turn up!0

I need to add my 2 p's worth to this thead
my partner got something worth over £100 from these guys..... posh electronic goods
and may I also name hermes here too as cavalier idiots
The hard working ethic of the people at yodel really shone as summarised below
not in..... no problem!
neighbour not in ? ........... no problem !!
oh but wait, the neighbours have a garden,
delivery made to 10 minute allotted schedule......... no problem!!
.....needless to say rain, theft, damage, were considerations made retrospectively, and we were left wondering what on earth caused them to do that.
In general I have a BIG problem with these people as soon as it gets as far as the neighbourrs. We DON'T all live on ramsay street, some of more in beirut than that, our purchase on ebay is authority for these cowboys to just hand free goods to anyone who lives nearby
my advice - if on ebay check the courier meticulously
if not on ebay - make sure the company is not skimping on cost - presumably these people make their bread because via delivering in gardens etc they're the cheapest - so make sure the price of safe delivery is built into your price you pay or really, it's a fairytale that might come good - you've bought something that may or may not reach you in good shape or at all.0 -

Yes, Citilink finally collected my returns parcel to Amazon, too. This is the third time they've had to come to our house to do Yodel's job for them.0 -
People complaining about collections for catalogues and such, You do realise its a courtesy service and collections are never guarrenteed.
You could *Shock horror* get out from infront of your computer and go down the post office, Who ironically were a bit a upset at me today as I wanted to post a letter, not take a credit card, loan, phone, broadband or top my phone up with them.0 -
(City centre Manchester).
I got a mobile sent overnight from Virgin and they used Yodel. I'd never heard of them before so this morning (delivery day 08/12/12) I checked them out and found appalling reviews and was preparing for a world of stress.
I have to say my experience was very pleasant. I was particularly worried as whomever delivers to this building has to go out of their way to telephone as the entry system doesn't work. I always attach this fact as a note, but it's not always adhered to.
In this case it was, my driver was perfectly amiable and cheery and the item was delivered within the time stated. I realise that I must be one of the lucky ones!
I never write any reviews or comments but I told the delivery driver I would as he was very professional and I was relieved for a swift easy transaction after all the bad reviews.0 -
Haha! You're right, I should have added that I'm grateful they turned up at all after reading through this thread!
But why? They did the job they were paid to do, but you seem to be disappointed about that; just because they knocked on your door. Unbelievable! The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
